Wow, overturned in a jet car, hope he'll recover.

Sky News is reporting Top Gear's Richard Hammond was:
"...reportedly driving a jet-powered Vampire car when it overturned. Mr Hammond was said to have been reaching speeds of up to 280mph as the accident happened."

I wish him well also. What was he doing driving a jet car? Is he qualified for something like that?

I've just check the small print on the back of my driving license and it doesn't mention anything about jet or rocket propelled vehicles! Having said that, Richard Hammond is no stranger to driving some of the world's fastest supercars (Zondas, etc) on the roads and round a track.

It would appear he was attempting to break the land speed record and hit 300mph+ on one run. Luckily since it was a record attempt it meant that all the emergency services were on hand instanly to help him.

This is awful. I love this show and these guys. Last week we lose Steve Irwin and now Richard Hammond is critically banged up.

        My prayers go out.

You know what I meant. I wasn't aware he was an expert in driving, thought he was just a host.

So when I initially read the article, it was like reading that Bob Barker was attempting to lift a dining room set over his head.

No jokes, I wish him all the best, as I love the show about the M5 from over a year ago. Made me had to have the car. (only Top Gear episode I have seen)

This is terrible news. My thoughts go out to Richard and his family. Hopefully, he will survive this horrific scare. He adds a lot of character to the show that completely counteracts Clarkson.
