Advice from San Diego locals

A close family member is currently contemplating moving to the San Diego area. Looking at cost of life comparisons, San Diego seems to be quite expensive. I would appreciate any advice any local boardmembers could offer.

Re: Advice from San Diego locals

San Diego does have a higher than average cost of living. Housing and fuel are much higher than average.

Re: Advice from San Diego locals

You can buy or rent for a wide range of prices. You just get less for your money (climate excepted) than you might in many other parts of the country. Some considerations in choosing an area might include proximity to work, the coast, quality of the school district, how many bedrooms, buy or rent, and how much can you afford. Most areas of San Diego are nice - some more than others, though. I would be happy to mention some neighborhoods if you can provide additional criteria.
