OT: Going to Vancouver and Seattle; anything I should see?
Hey all,
First off. My deepest apologies for placing this in the on-topic section, but I wanted some exposure. Gustav, please move it if it is too inapropriate.
I wanted to know if there was anything that I should take in as a tourist. I will be the area for a 9 days starting tomorrow.
Thanks all.

Ski Whistler! Just 2 hours from Vancouver. Stunning scenery and some of the best skiing in the world.

1) If it's a clear day, take the gondola on Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. It's the BEST view of the city.
2) Capilano Suspension bridge in North Vancouver
3) Vancouver's Gastown (also the location of the steam clock)
4) Vancouver Chinatown (don't forget the Dr. Sun Yat Sen gardens)
5) La Casa Gelato on Venables St. in Vancouver
6) Stanley Park seawall
.. I could keep listing things but I don't want to overwhelm you. I STRONGLY suggest going for that gondola ride though. If the skies are clear and you go up at around 4:00pm you will catch a great sunset with an equally great cityscape - it never ceases to make my jaws drop.

Chris,
Forget the sight-seeing. Go to Vancouver and eat like a pig. Superb food there.
You may also want to check out Atomic80's new home. It's a beauty. Any chance you'd make it to the SF area as well? I've got something for you.
Have a great time.

My main three suggestions are:
1) Take the Seattle underground tour. The history is great.
2) Go to the flight museum, have a look around, then take a ride on a genuine WWII (looks like even original parts) bi-plane. What a thrill, and a great aerial tour of Seattle.
3) Eat dinner at Metropolitan Grille in downtown Seattle. If you like steak, have the Chateaubriand (for 2 people - so take a friend). It is the BEST food I have EVER had, hands down.

M5Ted,
On the agenda already! I nice change from the foothills on the east coast.
Polvoronn,
I will go for the gelato today. My host/tourguide hasn't been there before, so she is excited. Thanks!
VanM,
**** right! Rain since i got here!
Pong,
Food is incredible. Had Malaysian/Singaporean food last night. Yum!
I think i may be in Seattle for one day; so I will look up Jason when i go there.
Might it be a ride in the Ruf!?!?!?!? Please?!!? I will actually be in SF later on next month. I am taking advantage of some time off and I intend to drive cross country with two friends.
Redshift,
I wrote thse suggestions down. Since I know less about Seattle; I will make these three the majority of my daytrip there. Thanks!

I would also suggest you go and take a look at the Canadian way of life and go to a Vancouver Canucks hockey game. The next home game is on the 27th against Edmonton and I can guarantee you that this will be a very good game. www.canucks.com if you are looking for tickets!

If you get this in time...send me an email (jasonT@tmo.blackberry.net) and we'll get together while you're in the Seattle area.
