        Should Signatures be regulated?

I am worried that our freedom of expression may soon be regulated and hoped for some support from some of the more creative not so creative siggy's out there.

MIB----> I know you didn't change your siggy because you wanted to please some Ole-Codger... (Let's Get Readdyyyyyyy to Ruble...)

By the way I started this thread in response to thi-->Yet another peevish observation about the board

        Hey,

I really do appreciate the creativity that went into composing your signature, but as many have pointed out it's just not the right place for that type of expression -- there are many more appropriate outlets such as the profile page, etc. Half of the things listed are STANDARD FEATURES for chrissake. Could you imagine if every user had 33 lines of signature (my unofficial count of your sig) attached to every post? When you submit a post that's only one line long (which isn't uncommon) and there are 33 lines of sig, that's an incredibly low signal-to-noise ratio. One of the best attributes a message board can have is a HIGH signal-to-noise ratio.

So please, I implore you, do what's best for the board and consider cutting your sig down to just 3 or 4 lines.

        Thanks,
        Pez

        Good one.
IMO people should just know some reason, and that's all. If your sig is really long, maybe think of people who might be annoyed. I personally dont care, because after I have read someones sig, I usually don't have reason to look at it again. I don't think that big brother should start curtailing things, as that is not something that would positivly reflect on this board. It seems like too much of a non-issue to get worried about or call for action. Just my humble $.02

        Sam,

I have to agree with ppezaris. I can understand the logic behind wanting to share that you have, say, the Tubi exhaust or the AS CAI; these are things other users might want to discuss. But who cares if you have a warning triangle, for heaven's sake? Or a first aid kit, or the non-smoking kit, or burled walnut trim? Do you expect someone to shoot you an IM asking you how the triangle performs? That's overkill - and overSIZE, as well, which just makes it take up even more space as it shouts down the actual message.

FYI: I voted Yes to freedom of expression and user discretion. I'm already on record as saying I think forcing a rule down our throats on this point would be a bad idea. If people can't tell on their own what's excessive, there's no point in trying to force them. But I'm wondering if you see the inherent contradiction between question 1 and question 5.

Well, I think it would be prudent for you to check youself in the future before you put your fooot into Zee Mouth Check the following thread and tell the members what was asked by gra8fuldd ed

And, the Warning Triangle is only available in europe I beleive. It was difficult for me to acquire it as well as the First aid kit. It's X-mas time------> Do you have any lights on your house? lol

And here is what Anita Said,

Yeah, there's actually even a non smoker's package option that you can order on your car. It's one of those semi-secret options usually available from BMW that requires a savvy and persistant salesperson to help you get. Also a fun request to torture your salesperson with, too.

And here is what Anita Said,
I believe he asked what a non-smoking kit was, because describing an ashtray insert as a "modification" to an $80,000 car probably caught his attention -- as in "I wonder what a non-smoking kit is?" because it could represent a number of things (many of which could in fact be more interesting than an $8 ashtray insert ).

I've also tried, but now failed, to restrain myself from pointing out that gra8fuldd ed has a signature that is, by my count, FIFTY EIGHT LINES long. Jeepers!

As long as it doesn't become the majority of threads like in other forums i have seen (i.e. bikini-clad women and random pictures). Cheapens the board.
