        Wine Cellar design

So I'm moving into a new home soon, and have decided to build a cellar in the basement. Right now, I'm storing wine in two stand-alone cellars, but would rather consolidate into one built in cellar.

Anybody out there know of some resources for building a wine cellar? Anybody out there build a cellar themselves???

I'd prefer to do the work myself. I'm just looking for information and recommendations for layout, racking, cooling, humidifying, etc. I'm also looking for designs and pictures so we can decide what we want it to look like. Currently, the collection is around 700 bottles, and that continues to "wax" faster than "wane"...

        Any thoughts or suggestions???

Unfortunately I don't have that problem, I tend to consume faster then collecting.

Jeff--You may want to head down to your local Barnes and Noble (or other big bookstore) and see what kind of books they have. You will be able to look at pictures and features of different wine cellars. I'm sure you could find a book on building them or atleast specs on different wine cellars. I just typed "wine cellar" into the AOL search engine and saw a link for a book at Amazon
How and Why to Build a Wine Cellar

I don't know how good the book is, but just thought I would make a suggestion. Heres another link you may find to be helpful: Putting in a Wine Cellar

Finally, here is a link from Business Week Online about Wine Cellars: Wine Cellar for Every Home

Hope those links help. I don't have any clue about building a wine cellar (I don't like wine...my grandfather use to make it, but I never drank it!). Good Luck and be sure to keep me updated, I'd like to see how it comes out!
