My take on the Dinan S2 M5

After seeing all the discussions & some confusions. I've got an idea.

Why not take a S2 M5 and Stock M5 to any QUARTER-MILE DRAG STRIP and see if the S2 live up to its promise. Simple as that.

I believe Dinan stated 12.7 seconds for the S2, I understand different drag strip will result in different times. Road & Track tested Dinan S2 at 13.6 seconds if I remember it right (they stated Dinan claimed 12.7 but they can't get any better than 13.6).

Can anyone of you just run a S2 M5 against a Stock M5 at a quarter-mile drag strip and report back? (Better yet, test both cars with the same driver).

I think this will solve all the problems and will be the end of all the doubts.

If Dyno won't get it right, I'm sure bringing to the track will. What do you people think?

Regards,
JIMMY

That's what I read, I will see if I can find it. It's in one of the recent issue with Dinan S2 M5 on it. Anyone has that article help me out.

However, I still think it's mandatory for a S2 to go on the track. I'm sure it will be low-12s since the stock can hit 12.8. My point is that since every track is different, just do a stock vs S2 on the same track and we should be able to see how much the improvement is.

JIMMY

I would expect that with all the extra torque in the S2, it would be much harder to get a clean start in a standing 1/4 mile race. I think a better comparison would be from a rolling start. The race results could use car lengths as the criterion.

ChuckC is rite. I raced a S2 in Englishtown and smoked 'em.
Wasn't even close.Josh, you know I race QTR mile all the time and I know my M5. This S2 would kill me on the open road and does so quite every time we race. But on a launch timed event like QTR mile he claws and scampers for traction every time. His best run is a 13.6 at 106MPH. My best the same night was a 13.2 at 107. the track was crap cause it was msty and humid out , but on the road, it's a walk away. He leaves me evry time. That's before my new mods came in. Now I'm Dinan hunting

With the 3:45's an S2 is going to have an extra shift in the 1/4, that should take a few tenth's off also.

Rennen, the diff doesn't make a difference. I have to use 4th to get through the QTR mile as well. I have never been able to go throught the traps in 3rd without bouncing off the rev limiter and loosing even more time.
