Beware BMW on Ebay
Quote:
BEWARE of Ebay ? BMW Purchase
International Internet ?Hackers? are breaking into legitimate Ebay seller?s accounts, just as the auctions end, and intercepts the email correspondences between the buyer and seller.
The ?Hackers? forge Ebay documents from ?Ebay Customer Support? and email them to the auction winner, with payment methods and verifying the auction and seller as a ?legitimate Ebay seller for which we guarantee?.
The ?Hackers? identify themselves as the Ebay seller. They instruct the auction winner to send deposits, in a non-Ebay secure method, as a ?Western Union Money Transfer?, to their name. Your deposit is lost and you never receive the auction item.
I was a victim of this type of Fraud.
Luckily, I only sent, and lost, a part of the deposit.
The ?Hackers? later emailed me and identified themselves ?as Team Hackers? from Romania and bragged about how successful they were with ?Hacking? Ebay and myself.
After the SCAM, I contacted Ebay, only then, did they shutdown the ?Hacked? Ebay account. Ebay and the legitimate seller were unaware of the ?Hacking?, even after three days of activity.
Ebay informed me, since I did not use an ?Ebay secure method? for the deposit, they could not help me.
I reported the SCAM to the FBI, Western Union and also to AOL and Yahoo, the two email accounts the ?Hackers? used.
