Surely you would have to include all the M cars in the choice rather than just the two lastest models.

E30 M3 for me any day.

Between the last 2 M´s the M3(SMGII) is the best....
In all the M´s (McLaren not included) the E34 M5 is still the M that I like the most .... I wonder why?

The lastest M's are AMAZING cars! Cars which seem to defy the laws of physics...but I think the best M car ever was the E34 M5. Amazing in-line 6 engine, subtle handsome looks and astounding handling.

Hmm - although I`ve never driven one - I would nominate the M1 Procar.

Alternatively, I have driven an Alpina M3 B6 3.5S which was fantastic. All the handling characteristics of the 4 cylinder M3, but with a straight 6 unit.
