Driving at speed (tyre info please)

Im afraid this isn't a bmw related question (though it could be) but since i value the opinion of people in this forum i'd like some advice on tyres. Im travelling to germany in a few weeks time, i've done this many times but am always concerned about the tyres. the car i will be using is a vauxhall (opel) omega (the newest one), im not sure what size wheels it has, they aren't performance or anything, i think they are 16 inch, and a generous amount of tyre between the rim and the road (so not low profile).
they have the correct speed rating.

the car may be travelling at over 110/120mph for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time, and then maybe another run like that with little or no break. The car will also be fully loaded, i.e. maximum amount of luggage in the back and 3 passengers over 65kg each. now as far as im aware the manual says its better to inflate the tyres to a higher pressure than normal for the weight, but since at almost twice the UK speed limit, will the increased heat together with the pressure make a blowout more likely?

lowering pressure increases the amount of tyre in contact with the road, so a greater probability of catching unwanted material like nails right? i'd just like to know so i can drive in peace whether using extra pressure for the weight in the car is safe at those speeds? should i inflate it even more? or much less (than maybe even normal?)

        advice much appreciated!
