        Introduction

        Hi guys

I have been lurking on this board for a while and have been very entertained with your stories.

Lonman - you are an inspiration to us all and many beers have been drunk whilst watching your videos!

I have recently bought a Jaguar XJ Sport after much deliberation. I was also looking at an M3, but settled on the XJ as I do mainly motorway driving.

However, I thought you guys might appreciate the test drive I had in the M3. It was a 1997 Avus one, on Koni adjustable shocks and with a Scorpion exhaust - it sounded fantastic!

I arrived at the guys house who was selling it and there it was in the drive looking great. Then the guy who was selling it came out and said he had bought it for his wife as she like the colour. The guy also had a 993 and a 996 - both Carreras.

Fantastic, I thought, an unabused M3 - the guy was in his 70s.

Then he proceeded to take me, my dad and my girlfriend out for a run in the car.

He drove rather sedately around town, but when he came to the dual carriageway - boom! He took the first roundabout at 80mph, and then accelerated up to 135mph. It was so unexpected - but the car just sat flat all the way - excellent stuff.

He then offered me a drive, but in my hightened state of anxiety I failed to punch it as much as I would have liked.

Afterwards, my Dad and girlfriend were suprised we were going at that speed (they were sitting in the back) as the car felt so stable.

I didn`t buy that one - as I thought it may have lead a hard life! 70 years old! M Power through the generations!

The XJ did have one careful old man owner - so I plumped for that - probably still shell shocked from the M experience.

However, my next car is going to be an E39 M5 in Carbonblack.

        Have a good weekend.

HEY.. I object to you calling me old..

Guess you too are showing your age by buying the Jag..

Stick around long enough and we'll have you in real car in no time at all.
