I lived in Germany for 5 years the first time I came here then left and didn't come back for many years. I am now working on my 6th year this time.
Also came over on vacation a few time in between.
Funny thing, wife and I were talking about this, I have lived in my current location longer than anywhere else since primary school in the US.
Originally, I grew up in the state of Maryland but left that state for good after high school. My parents moved away later so I only visit there once in awhile while on business.

I see that Clinton has a german grandmother on his mother's side of the family.
My family members came from England and Germany, however, we have more knowledge of our English past than the German.
I really need to get the family history records out and visit the origins some day but find things too busy.
Nice location Clinton, your location use to be well known years ago. Would suspect not to many Americans would know it now that motorcycle racing is different.

Kwalls,

Thanks for the kind words. Your family has an interesting background, aswell as yourself.

Your right about the Isle of Man though, it's not as recognised World wide as it use to be but overall it's still a success every year when the TT is on.

The island's population more than doubles every year to around 150 000 plus from 70 000. We get many Germans over too! soo there's still some European interest. We also had Colin Edwards over last year to do a couple laps, he's American

Take Care

My most commonly used phrase from German class was "Ich weis nicht."
The current extent of my usage is taking pride in pronouncing Spaten properly and confusing waitresses.

Oh yeah, and deciphering the various warning lights in my car.
"What the hell is Kennzeichenl.?"
[Dash goes dark]
"Ohhhhh."

I would say that im less american than most as two of my very good friends are both non american. One is german (pick up a little german from him) and one N.A Dutch (pick up a little dutch there)

So besides my completely useless 2 years in high school for spanish of which i remember just about nothing (bathroom and curse words), i can get by with some very basic german and dutch.

Now sweedish is what i really want to learn
