I've always thought that angel eyes functioned with small and numerous amounts of LEDs, but i've recently found that only one bulb is needed because of fiber optics technology. I found the bulb that is used for the angel eyes (1 small bulb on each side). The bulb sits in a chamber. I can disconnect the chamber from the plug its connected to, but i cant seem to take out the bulb. I want to try experimenting with different colors...I know that most states dont allow forward projection of lights unless they are white, but I just wanted to see how different colors would look. Can i pull this small bulb out, or is it not meant to come out? Do I have to buy a new chamber with a different color bulb?
I tried this about a year ago, I ended up breaking the bulb. I think the little hat that goes around it is part of the socket the bulb plugs into. I did speak to someone who ahd red angel eyes on his M5, and he told me that he ended up just coloring the bulb red. Since the wattage is relatively low, 21, the temperatures did not get high enough to burn off the paint.

If you try and perform a search on this, either "angel eyes" or demon eyes" i think, you will come up with a post containign some images of the M5 with red and blue angel eyes. Looked cool but was not legal. Hope this helps you out a bit.
I would just paint the bulb, but I want to be able to switch back to the regular white color by easily changing the bulb. I was thinking of changing the color to blue. Maybe if i get pulled over by a cop with blue angel eyes, i can pass them off as xenons...
Try shooting a photo of a small area of your cars color using slide film. Develop it and place the thin slide material in front of the bulb. It's designed to stand up to the heat of a projector and should illuminate the ring just fine.

oh great i think i broke my angel eye bulb when i was playing with it. The bulb is loose and it shuts off sometimes when i hit bumps on the road... grr me and my curiosity
LOL. Live and learn man! Sounds like a cool idea. I once had the genius idea of painting my high-beams red with some $26 Japanese "light bulb paint", which burnt off with in about 45 seconds of the brights being turned on.
It was really cool for those 45 seconds though. People move out the way QUICK when they see red behind them
