Looking for a Golf-Related Forum or advise from some Scratch golfers.

As it states I am looking for a golf related forum where I am ask questions w/o getting B.S. from salesreps looking for a quick buck. I know Apples floats around here but I do not want to bother him for I know he deals enough with golf.

A little background:I am 30 years old, 6'5 245-250lb former hockey player, I play to a quickly dropping 16.3 HDCP (I was a 20.6 2 mths ago). I have been shooting much better then I have ever in my life! (I shot a 38 last weekend) I am self taught player as of about 10 weeks ago. I took 2 lessons from a local teaching Pro and he got me hitting the ball so well I am floored! I feel like Apples now that I am hitting 290yd drives with a beautiful fade. I currently play a 9 degree Callaway Steelhead Plus w/ steel shaft driver, Strong 3 wood, 3-PW Zevo Oversize irons, Cleveland 53 & 57 degree wedges, Scotty Cameron Catalina 2 putter (I LOVE that one!!) and use the Maxfli A-10 ball.

Question #1: 2 years ago I had the irons bent 2 degrees weaker then stock (PW=48*, 9-I=44* etc) for I was then living in MA, the courses are not very long, and I wanted to land the ball softer. Since I started taking lessons, I am MUCH more accurate BUT I am 1 club shorter then I was prior to the lessons. I had them bent weaker when I read the specs on some Pro's irons and since I a longer hitter I could afford to sacrafice a little distance.

Should I have the irons bent back to stock loft OR have them bent to 1-2 degrees strong from their original loft? Stock they came PW-46*, 9I-42*, etc. Should I just address the lack of distance with the Pro and work on releasing more for better distance? The Pro was very encouraging in stating my raw talent with some more coaching could easily have me a mid-single digit handicap. I feel VERY comfortable with him and would be willing to take more lessons.

Question 2: I like the driver I am hitting now for I get a very penetrating ball flight with lots of roll BUT it's only a 220cc head and would like to consider something a little larger and more forgiving. I do not like these 350+cc headed drivers! I am looking at some of the newer models in the 300-330cc like the Titleist 975J/VJS, Nike 350cc, or Taylor Made 500 Series (when they release the .83 COR version the Pros use). Does the launch angle of a titanium driver differ from a steel headed driver? I tried the 305cc Wilson Deep Red and I was skying the 9degree one. Was like hitting a 5 wood!! Meaning is my 9 degree steel comparable to say a 8 degree Titanium in launch angle?

I know this was a long thread but I would appreciate any help.

        Thanks
        Michael
