A tongue-in-cheek David Coulthard called Michael Schumacher a lucky b****** after the Malaysian GP.
The German recovered from his first corner brush with Juan Pablo Montoya to finish third in in Sunday's race. He managed to fight his way up from last place after being forced to pit for a new nose after the collision, but he benefited from the retirements of both McLarens and his team-mate Rubens Barrichello.
Schumacher also made up a place on the last lap when Jenson Button’s Renault suffered a suspension failure. Schumacher does seem to have had the rub of the green in the last few seasons.
He inherited victory on the last lap of last year’s Spanish Grand Prix when Mika Hakkinen retired and he’s survived numerous spins and scrapes unscathed.
This has not gone unnoticed by DC. Speaking after the race Coulthard said: "The words jammy b****** spring to mind.
"When he has a problem he still manages to get third. When I had a problem last season I thought I did well to come fifth."
Coulthard’s luck is certainly not in at the moment. The Scot has retired from both the opening races of the year with mechanical problems and he now lags 14 points behind Schumacher in the title race.
