I didn't bother reading the thread, but I want to simply point out that obviously the other candidate is always a fraud and the candidate you wanted was always a better choice.
It's called bias, and it's just the way the world works.
Personally I don't think Obama is all that great, but he's a hell of a lot better than McCain would have been, and a trillion, trillion, TRILLION, times better than the man who held office from 2000-2008 (I refuse to call him a President - that man was a complete fool).
What more is that a large chunk of McCain's claim to his country-running qualifications was that he fought for our country. Now, I don't mean this as any offense to any of the men and women who have served or are serving our country, as I think nothing higher of them, but honestly I think that serving in the armed forces does not qualify you one bit AT ALL to become President of the United States. It's illogical to think that.
It's like saying a professional rock climber would make a good race car driver...
WOW! You need some serious education and facts. If you are going to come to the discussion you better bring some horsepower. I'm not even going to respond to your comments.
Oh and yes, you did disrespect the military by your blanketed statement, SIR!

FORGED IN A FIRE LIT LONG AGO, STAND NEXT TO ME, YOU'LL NEVER STAND ALONE. FIRST IN, LAST OUT. YOU DON'T ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU STAND, TILL YOU KNOW THAT YOU WON'T RUN AWAY. YOU HAVE ENEMIES? GOOD. THAT MEANS YOU'VE STOOD UP FOR SOMETHING, SOMETIME IN YOUR LIFE. W. CHURCHILL SOCIALISM IS A PHILOSOPHY OF FAILURE, THE CREED OF IGNORANCE, AND THE GOSPEL OF ENVY, ITS INHERENT VIRTUE IS THE EQUAL SHARING OF MISERY. W.CHURCHILL A wise and frugal gov't, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good gov't. Thomas Jefferson ...

I refuse to get sucked into this debate, but I would like to point out that I do not see Revo's comments as disrespecting to the military. Its a wonderful way to serve this country. I think it shows true dedication to America, but it does not give one the credentials to be President and deal with the many, non military related issues included in the job. I believe military experience could affect a President's decision if our country should go to war, because he could better weigh the risk vs. reward having been a soldier himself. However, the most important aspect of deciding to go to war is analyzing the threat of another country, and I do not think one needs military experience, but rather other abilities to do so. So just because saying military service does not prepare one to be President does not mean he is frowning upon or underestimating the difficult of military service.
I'm not even going to respond to your comments.

Technically, you just did respond...but I won't nitpick...
How is that disrespecting the military? I acknowledge the service of the men and woman in the armed forces. I acknowledge them putting thier lives on the line to protect the freedoms I enjoy. I understand they are shot at, attempted to be blown apart, have to fight for days on end with little food or water.
However, does that teach them how passing a certain bit of legislation affects the economy both in the long and short run? No. Does it teach them diplomacy with another nation that is constructing nuclear missles? No.
I stand by my statement. I recognize what they do but just point out that what they do doesn't make then as qualified as a Yale or Harvard business or enonomics graduate.
I wrote this on my iPhone. Please forgive any misspellings.
This gets back to the healthcare debate and the point that Ranger originally made. I find the following article quote illuminating:
Quote:
“Something has been discouraging physicians from working the long hours they used to work,” he said.
That something is lower compensation. It's just not worth it for really smart guys to work so hard for so little. They have other things to do. For example, I just rented office space yesterday and the owner I made a deal with is a doctor. I went to his practice and wrote him a check. Others, like Ranger, are considering opening a bar in Belize. This is the cost of price controls, which appears to be an economic law unknown to the government.

The old adage "you get what you pay for" is quite applicable here. Doctors are not (yet) indentured servants, and when there is low or no payment, there will be no service. I have a friend who is an oncologist in Florida, and he has had to withhold his salary and take out a loan to keep his practice afloat. And now the cuts are about to even get worse. Bye bye cancer care for many Americans.
I have said this before, but it merits repeating. Until the government looks at the legal disaster in this country and the outrageous practice of defensive medicine thanks to parasites like the heinous John "look at my pretty hair" Edwards, we will never have true and useful heathcare reform. Trial lawyers need to wake up and realize they are biting the hand (and arm) that feeds them. The administration has addressed insurance companies, physicians, and drug companies but has all but ignored the fat gluttonous elephant in the room (you can guess who that is). Heathcare reform should be about reducing costs and making healthcare more readily available for all Americans while maintaining excellence, not continuing to protect lawyers under the guise of protecting Americans.
Except for the accent, the following kind of reminds me of my ex-wife's attorney:
