Who here likes to drink? Lets talk booze

So upon reading this article, it got me thinking how much I like to drink

Is the Party Over? Recent Research on the Pros and Cons of Drinking Alcohol - Page 1 - MSN Health & Fitness - Nutrition

So, lets talk booze...

Favorite Wine: I like California wines (shut up glow) Stag Leap is one of my favorite winery. I also like Meritages in general.

Favorite Beer:Too many to pick my favorite. Top 2 mass produced are grolsch beer and Urkel beer. Heffenwissen my choice.

Favorite Hard: Any Glenn would do, but default is Vodka on ice with lime. Its plain and simple and gets the job done.

and I like Jagermeister in original and Barenjager.

Is Barenjager made by Jagermeister? I like it. One time I mixed it with Sunkist orange and it was awesome!

Favorite Beer: Can't pick one. I guess right now it's Rahr Blonde. Made here in Fort Worth and it's fantastic.

Favorite Wine: I only drink it when I'm out of beer and it's usually my wife's Arbor Mist. Keep laughing I know you guys drink it too.

Favorite Hard: Un Emile and Verte de Fougerolles are tied right now for favorite Absinthe. Also a big fan of that Crown Royal in the Black Bag.

Great article. I was just thinking about this the other day, in a quest to figure out why I feel so much less sharp than I was before college... I think I overdid it during the golden years

Nonetheless, I LOVE to drink. Not a fan of any other substances really... but Alcohol, I have a very healthy relationship with.

Anyways:
Favorite Wine: Not a big wine-o yet, but I appreciate a Merlot now and then
Favorite Beer: Also too many to list, but I'm a huge fan of Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr for the imports, Newcastle and Pyramid Apricot for the mass-produced, and Hoegaarden if I'm feeling something really light.
Favorite Hard: Hystorically, I will resort to any top shelf Vodka if I mean business, though lately I've developed a nasty (and expensive) Patron Habit. That, and Dirty Martinis. Not sure why, but sometimes I get munchy when I'm out, and the Martinis come with a little snack.

If you like Jager, try the ready-made mix of Jagertee made by Jagermeister. Slam it in the freezer for a few hours, pour yourself a shot, and thank me later.

Hehe...yeah that Patron is expensive. If you like tequila you should try to find one called Agavero. It's in a teal blue bottle and it is absolutely the best tequila I've ever tasted. I can actually sip on it like a whisky.

haha, Now we're talkin'! I'm strictly a beer guy, but I do have my particulars.

Favorite Wine: Any Cab or Merlot will suffice for me. I haven't dove into wine territory, that's my GF's weapon of choice.
Favorite Beer: This is difficult, picking out one beer in one style is nearly impossible for me to choose. The winning style is gonna have to be American Amber Ale. Either Green Flash Hop Head Red or Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale.
Favorite Hard: Ketel One, For when the $h!tface times come a'callin'.

Also, out of curiosity any m5board members also Beer Advocates? (I Don't wanna thread hi-jack)

I am a major, major wine buff and I have no problem with wines from anywhere in the world (except South Africa...I've never had a decent South African wine, even at some vineyards there). California holds a special place in my heart - I love Napa.

I've got notebooks filled with thoughts on different wines I've had over the year. One of my favorite things to do is to pack my guns in the car, drive out east, go shooting at the range in the morning and vineyard hopping in the afternoon. Fill the car with vino and guns, light up one of my cigars and I'm a regular federal agency.

One of my clients has basically endorsed over to me his membership at Screaming Eagle and has sent me vintages he's had from the 90s - I've taken some in lieu of pay. I've opened a 94 and two 97s in about six years time. They're that special. As the kids say omgz!!!

I like Cabernet Sauvignons, Bordeauxs, Meritages, Malbecs Sauvignon Blancs, Chardonnays, and even Gewurtztraminers. I don't like Rieslings, Merlots, or Zinfandels. I have a love/hate relationship with Pinot Noirs - very streaky. I enjoy champagnes and sparkling whites, but only rarely.

Local wines, small vineyards, etc. I love to explore them. There's just so much to enjoy. I don't gravitate towards any particular wine unless I've gone through the wine list. I've got reserves of cases of my stand-bys, of course, but they are varied.

---

I enjoy some single malt Scotches, though only with a cigar - I can't drink Scotch without one.

I don't like any other liquor (though I used to like bourbon back in my college years - cheaper the better [Southern Comfort comes to mind]) - especially vodka. Hate it.

Beer is disgusting - piss water, tastes like dirty socks. I wouldn't give it to the dog. That said, there's something about having a beer with schnitzel in Germany or the Czech Republic - it's sort of a religious experience. And in South-East Asia, it's almost the only thing to drink. Tiger, Singha, etc. Safer than water.

Yes...I'm a beer guy even though my post doesn't really show that. Ever had a Budweiser right out of the vat at the St. Louis brewery? Good stuff.

This is a great time of year for beers. I just picked up a sixer of Paulaner Oktoberfest and one of Sam Adams Octoberfest. Really enjoying those right now.

BTW...Southpark fans will find "Red Rocket" Ale hilarious.

Nice article, and great subject, near and dear to my heart. The take home message:

"But other experts tell moderate drinkers not to let the barrage of studies overwhelm their joie de vivre. "My message to people who enjoy drinking moderately is to stop obsessing about whether it helps your health or not," says Tim Naimi. "You don’t need an excuse to drink a moderate amount of alcohol."

Joie de vivre. Great expression.

Here here. I'm a wine fanatic...can't get enough of the grape. During a trip to France last summer, I had some spectacular rose', and have been trying to duplicate the experience ever since (unsuccessfully). Give me a big, crisp chardonnay with a hint of oak, or a dry rose' with a nose of cherry, and I can't stop drinking the stuff. One bottle a night is my average. I'm not sure this qualifies as 'moderate', but here's to joie de vivre!

Um...now you're speaking my language. Tough to beat Don Julio 1942. I can get it for $100. (Regular Don Julio, like Patron, is "marguarita grade".) Jose Cuervo de La Familia is nice, and something that, if you've never had it, you wouldn't know was tequila. Tastes like whiskey at first, but softens up to be almost like the 42' after awhile. Of course, if you just get the 42' you wouldn't have to wait. It's like drinking water. No burn at all. And of *course* you don't do "shots". Right?? You sip it...and of course you don't get lime/salt, right??Freda Khalo's a favorite. Paradiso is very nice. It's made in cognac barrels.

My go-to beer is Karl Straus Amber Lager.

Not a big wine guy, but I do have the occasional glass of Cab. Current favorite, that I found for $3.99 (! Can't get tequila cheap, but you can find decent wine) is Kingfish.
