I don't believe anybody in this thread ever stated that it was perfectly fine to about at 6 months. You need to try to read what we are writing without using a bible as your reading glasses.
I think abortion is horrific, I thank the powers that be that I never had to make that choice and I pray I will never be faced with it in connection with my children.
I also agree with you that, since I have no way to be sure, it would be immoral to abort a fetus. But that does not mean that the correct answer is to make it illegal. One short, but terribly sad story that highlights this:
My friend's wife was pregnant with triplets and one fetus died. It became apparent that both of the other babies had extremely serious issues, may not make it to birth, and, even if they did, would not likely survive for any material of time after birth. She was 5 months along. They made the decision to travel to one of the few states that allowed it at that term of the pregancy and abort. One of the hardest things a person can imagine. Did they "kill" these babies? Probably. Do I take issue with his outcome on this very difficult decision? Absolutely not! I can assure you he lives with this decision every day of his life. He thinks it was anything but "perfectly fine", but that does not mean that it was worse than the alternative. And, by the way, they had seen several sonograms at this point.
Aside from the myriad of other issues, making abortion illegal would do nothing to prevent abortions for the wealthy and little to prevent them for the poor (but would likely greatly increase the risk they are exposed to).

And be honest - do you really give a damn about those kids if they turn out fucked up or not? Do you vote against letting gangbangers and rednecks have children? Or is it just another flag to throw up and argue about.
My feeling is this - the less births that are unwanted, the better; and the more families to take care of the ones who make it into this world, but are left at the orphanage, bless their hearts.
While I agree with this in theory, in practice this is not what happens.

The all too often office visit for the unintendened pregnancy involves a referral to the abortion clinic and a follow-up check-up for contraception. They usually return a few months later, pregnant. However, this time they will keep the baby.
The point that I am making is that abortions do not decrease the birth rates, they just change the paternity.
No, to me. Especially the last line. I have a tendency to make snarky remarks because overly serious threads makes for everyone to need an enema. Still, it's not healthy to get hung up on the delivery method and it's best to pay atttention to what's being said. The humor is only there to break it up a bit.
I don't have a problem with your post, ideliver. Previous posts went over the line enough that I shut the thread for a while to throw some cold water over everybody. Yours didn't stray into that territory.
