Whats with all the hate on the E60 from the E39 guys??

I occasionally pop over to the e39 section just to see whats going on and if anythings new. I used to be down there all the time when i had my e39 m5 last year. All i ever see week in week out are new threads bashing on the E60, i never see threads hating on the e39 in the e60 section, what is it with those guys, comments like "all E60 owners are dumb" is just quite pathetic really yet its a common occurance over on the other side of the board. What makes them hate our cars so much?

You can find the same thing on any car forum. When the F10 comes out, some E60 folks will feel the need to mock and berate for no good reason.

This was my response to a thread last week on the E39 forum. Its a constant over there.

Ahhh, another version of the same worn out thread, at least one a week. Its such a fixation for E39 owners. You will rarely, if ever, find a similar thread on the E60 page looking back at the E39. Why? Because we are content with our cars, we do not need to justify it against another. The E60 speaks for itself. We don't have to fall back on the "it has soul" or “it feels better” or any other opinion driven arguments. Opinions are opinions, but not measurable/comparable facts. There is nothing wrong with liking one car over another just because of personal preference. However, in all measurable performance standards, the E60 out performs the E39. These are facts. This doesn't take away from the E39, its a freaking incredible car. But why the need to try so hard to justify? This is coming from someone who owned a 2003 E39 before the E60.

The E39 is an incredible car!!! Enjoy them on their own merits. I am a car enthusiast and accept that there will be better BMWs than the E60. If BMW hasn’t lost their focus, the new M5 will be better than the E60, but it doesn’t diminish my joy of ownership of the E60. The need to constantly try to argue that the E39 is better than the E60 by using emotional, non-measurable, arguments and the constant need to validate just comes across as sour grapes and silly.

Enjoy the ride you have for what it is, a damn great car. I did with the E39, and I am with the E60.

Cheers.

You will hear all about "soul", "looks", and other opinion terms constantly used as facts, but at the end of the day, they need to find a way to love their own cars, instead of being fixated on another.

I always liked the E60 as high-end car, and I think we should show respect to the people not to their cars. personally I did not buy the E60 because I already upgrade my E39, so I will wait till the 2012 to get the new generation of the M5.

Regards..

I've owned a lot of cars and been on many forums and it's the same thing everywhere. There are always people who think that the car that they own is the best and that everyone else is "stupid" or "ignorant". Personally I just ignore it because usually it's they who are ignorant - usually because it's the only sports car that they've ever owned. I love my E39 M5 but would also kill for an E60.

That's Funny.

I tend to surf the board by "new posts" instead of just E60. I love BMWs and like to keep up with more than just my model. It takes me over there quite often. Like I said, their fixation on this issue really isn't needed. The E39 is a great car, don't be-little it by claiming its better than the E60, just enjoy it.

Well said M5 Bliss, I have noticed and have been pointing out the same for quite a while now this drival spouted all the time there!

I to search by 'new posts' and read quiet a few of the posts on the E39 side off life, I like the E39.

I don't think it does the board or the E39 guys favours and can only put off a prosective E60 buyer who if they are in the market for the E60 type car are very very unlikey to buy a E39 but will go over to another marque and we loose all round, in resale value and members on the board. This effects both the E60 AND the E39 because if the E60 price drops the E39 will as well.... very very short sighted!!

Peace to all

Jay

At least the maturity level is STILL better here than on just about any M3 forum. That's where all the kids are.
