cell phones mega-thread [merged]

Time for a new phone. Being a Verizon guy, the I-Phone isn't an option. Not being a geek, I really don't *need* more that calling/texting capabilities, and most "apps" will be wasted on me. However, that doesn't mean I don't want something cool. I was leaning towards a Samsung Rogue or an Envy Touch, but I see that the Motorola Droid is coming out next week, and "they" say it's the Coolest Thing Ever. Any thoughts?

As I kept reading your post, I kept thinking "dude...the Droid comes out soon." And then, you mentioned it. I also have verizon and it seems like a cool phone. But, like you, I only call and text.

But hey, if you can find a good data plan with verizon that doesn't leave you with a sore backside, then go for it and let us know how good/bad it is.

Looks crazy. Probably serious overkill for me, so I'll have a tough time convicing the wife I *need* to spend $200+ + a service upgrade. I just know that I whupped out my 3+ year old KRZR the other day, and my friend with an I-Phone started laughing hysterically.

Yea, tough to justify. Especialy since the novelty factor will wear out in a couple of weeks at most.

Seeing SoCalJD's thread about him needing a new phone reminded me how quickly Im going to need one too.

Is it wrong that I wanted Palm to make the Pre' with a card slot?

I have a Treo 700P and I love it. Im willing to keep it until one of a couple of things happen...

Either the iPhone comes to Sprint or Palm makes a Pre' with a card slot and or a MUCH bigger HDD.

Im starting to feel behind the times with my Treo 700P. Ive just invested so much time and money to get the phone the way I like it to give it up without having what I want.

What is the boards consencious (sp?) of whether or not the iPhone comes out on Sprint in the next 6-12mos?

iPhone if you like touchscreen, otherwise something else if you don't. I'd get the iPhone.

Defenetly the iPhone, I've got the 3G S three months now. It is the best cell phone I ever had.

And how the commercial told: There is an app for everything.

I never had problems with it. The browser is awesome fast and the touchscreen is great.

Once it comes to Sprint... Im sure Ill be ALL over the iPhone. Until then... I may be hosed.

Again, it depends on the carrier. The almighty iphone has a whopping 30% rate of dropped calls in NYC. That is unacceptable.

But, if you want an iphone, why dont you get an unlocked one and use it on sprint?
