Just curious will a M5 burn rubber above 55 mph?

I think a 6 sp manual M5 could. With SMG my tires breakloose at 55 but doesn't qualify as burnout. I could dump clutch on my supercharged M3 at 55 and lay rubber. btw - that's just plain stupid unless you enjoy replacing clutch and throwout bearings.

yea unless it's wet out, you'd have to dump the clutch on a 6mt M5 to break the tires loose

It's mostly about surface grip and tires. On a cold Missouri day, an M5 will break the tires loose at 85 mph. It's a combination of denser air (more power), and the tires getting harder (even with winter tires). This is without any tricks (clutch dumps, etc.). Do the same thing on a warm Missouri day, and you'll hook up all the way from 1st gear.

In s6 mode, the SMG will violently throw enough engine momentum into the 2-3 gear shift to get at least a chirp in most traction conditions. If it's cool with cold tires - more power and less traction - you'll get more than a chirp.
