Its all just turning into a religion

With people not going to church anymore, they need a dogma

In catholic and protestant faiths, the if-then factor is always an issue. IF you do this, THEN you get that. Catholic and protestants may fill it in differently, but in the end, it boils down to that. A way of keeping people from doing the wrong thing.

Same here with this environment dogma. IF we don't stop using hairspray, THEN the ozon layer will disappear. IF you drive a car with a big engine, THEN we'll encounter global warming leading to our demise.

I guess people need those constructions.

I don't know if you are aware of Clive James. This subject needs his kind of insight.

BBC iPlayer - A Point of View: 23/10/2009

Global warming is used by goverments all round the world to stop spending!

Think about it, our populations and demands are growing... if they can get us to switch off our lights and turn off electrical goods that were on standby, travel less... basicly use less energy they don't have to spend on new roads, new power stations and energy grids to keep up with this population as they start to balance out so they win. Plus we become less dependent on countries for their oil and gas energy reserves, these countries (Arab and russan) tend to be unstable and demanding so moving away from their control is good in goverments eyes as we become less involved in their internal politics and wars. And they can do this by scaring us with global warming so we are more willing to pay for the more expensive 'locally' avalible energies and more welcoming to atomic energy again.

Unfortunately this process will succeed as the green do gooders shout louder than the rest of us, we just play along and pay up! It will come out in the wash that mans part of global warming is made up but it will be to late, the goverments have had their way and 'controlled' our thoughts and directed our futures.

Belief in the anthropogenic global warming appocolypse is quickly fading. New polls shows Americans to be increasingly skeptical. Politics, as usual, is a lagging indictator of public sentiment.

More Americans Skeptical of Global Warming

Canadian folk singer died doing something she loved, mother says - CNN.com

Poor kid...But just another example of human arrogance in thinking we can somehow change Mother Nature. She's a ***** and will kill indiscriminately. She doesn't want/need our help. She's been around for billions of years creating perfect killing machines - we're not gonna change that in a fraction of a fraction of the time.

Her - who knows. The 'movement' in general. That's what the period in the sentence was for. Perhaps I should have made a paragraph break.
