Paging LSCMan

It's Nick from LOL. I couldn't PM you, but I wanted your opinion about picking up an E39 540i 6 speed. What were your experiences with the car? Thanks for the advice on the VII. It has served me and others well these many years.

What year? I had an 03', and it was an awesome car. I *never* see them either (I see M5's all the time). Love the car.

I'm looking for a 1999-03 540i with a 6 speed. Finding one is indeed tough. I am currently searching a 2 hour plus radius from my home. Anything close has sold before I could look at it. If I look any farther, I might be flying to pick it up. I've also got two used car dealers searching. If they fail, I'm tempted to have the BMW dealer search for me under contract. It seems the cars are 10% of an already limited number.

How long did you have the car and what did you see for reliability?

Ordered it new in 03'. Was all set to buy out the lease in 06' when I stumbled across an M5 that didn't cost me much more. Never had one thing go wrong with the car.
