I wouldn't want to be the cameraman having a hot .50 bmg shell ejecting into my face, or at least to my camera...

Some ******* was blowing through rounds in an AK47 at the range and the shells eject about 15 feet. ******* didn't even put up a net. Kept hitting me at my position either in the head or down the neck once. You normally don't want to scream at other patrons of a shooting range, but these kids were just out of ******* control with that thing.
It is interesting what calibers are selling out by area. The article your posted said, "Already, there’s a shortage of ammunition for the .25 ACP and .380 pistols. And prices are rising on those and nearly all other types of ammunition. A box of 50 rounds for a 9 mm pistol, for instance, sold last year for $12.97. Today, it costs $29.97."

Walking through retail stores the handgun ammo areas are bare and long gun stock good. I live in an urban area and the situation could be reversed in farm country. Of course, prices for everything is much higher. The Corbons I prefer are up almost double from one year ago.

------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully the camera lens had a protective covering, notice the downwards recoil blast?

When someone at the range is inadvertently ejecting shells in my direction, I usually politely ask them to switch positions or do something to remedy the situation. At the ranges here, everyone young and old, hip and square are polite. Didn't think it was a Texas thing, you might want to ask.

I asked the young hooligans and the rangemaster to take better care. Fell on deaf ears and the rangemaster wouldn't do anything about it.

All 50 positions on the line were taken up, nowhere to move. It was one of those days. I really wanted to scream at them, but you just don't raise your voice like that when everyone has a gun or eight. I just pulled my hood up while they were blowing off rounds.

---

I think the only ammo that's still affordable are .22. Box of 20 is like a buck and change. I posted my NYC pistol paperwork last week, I hear they are moving through those fairly quickly now, 3-4 month waits for permits. Though one of the things that sucks are individual purchase papers for each weapon. The way I buy up guns, that will be an annoying hindrance.

Anyone have a Springfield XDm? That thing looks like a nice glock alternative...

M6A2, .50 BMG and FN Five Seven

Could not resist. Ended up buying all three guns left on my list of guns to acquire. Now the question is, where do I even shoot the 50?

I am in Tucson this saturday and have my daughter's birthday the next. So any of the two coming sunday afternoons would be great. I actually would really appreciate if you are there with me as the 50 is way too much gun for me alone (you have to disassemble it to transport it and then put it back together to shoot it).

edit: it looks like it closes at 1:00 pm on sunday, so morning would be better. Either way, let's plan this.

Working next weekend. This Sunday is a possibility, but I may need to spend time with the wifey. Going to SGC on Saturday afternoon to do a little shotgun pattern testing for my Mossy.
Have you been to Ben Avery? I haven't been yet, but would really like to get to an outdoor range before it gets TOO hot.

Haven't been there yet. Let's aim for this sunday morning then. Let me know which way you are leaning by saturday eve if you can.
