I think the current generation is more appreciative than others.

My father was an invalid after combat in WWII and got no help at all.

Things are better now, but still not good enough...

NYC Today

Today was an amazing sight!!!...brought my youngest down to NYC to see the Intrepid re-dedicated...lots of service people around...this is the way it should always be....

It ocurrs to me that the events of 9/11/2001 helped to further our respect for our veterans (as well as anyone on active duty).

Anyone else think the same?

Also what of other countries -- how are veterans honored?

...as for other countries, I didn't attend, but nearby in the Netherlands, at a US cemetary where thousands are intered, thousands of Dutch attended an annual ceremony lasting three hours where they honored the fallen Americans.
