Oh geez. This thread just keeps getting..."better". No, I was referring to the fact that nobody seems to have come up with a birth certificate proving where he was born/etc.

Thanks, I apologize for jumping the gun, I am terribly sorry about that. But those are articles are indeed worth reading. A lot of my friends who are muslim are finding themselves being forced to go to the democratic side, even though they were concerned about Obama's tax policy (these are doctors making enough money to be concerned about it, as opposed to our friend Joe). the thing is, they see these tactics and are really scared of the direction this country is heading as far as muslims are concerned and republican party has sort of become the base of operation for these extremists and anti-muslim bigots (I don't want to put too many videos of these idiots here but the anti-muslim guy in Muslim McCain supporter video above is what I am talking about).

I understand that, and it sucks. However...let me adjust my flame suit for a second...:p...*some* of the anti-Muslim sentiment here (didn't see video, so I'm when I say "here" I'm talking about Joe Sixpack...er...Joe Plumber) might be alleviated if some big Imam somewhere denounced the next attack (or last) on the U.S. Much was made post 9/11 about Islam being a "religion of peace" and that the attackers "didn't represent what Islam is all about/etc." While *I* believe that it so, the silence from Islam's "pulpit" was/is deafening. I'd say Joe Sixplumber is *afraid* of Islam, and that Islam doesn't do very much to show him that that fear is unwarranted.
Buddy there was a lot of condemnation of 9/11 attacks the world over including Islamic countries. In fact there were candle lit vigils in Tehran (Iran). Also, even though Islam is not run by a pope like figure, al-azhar in egypt is the closest you can get to such an authority and they issued a fatwa against the terrorists. Just about every Muslim country leadership (and majority of citizens) denounced this act but tell you what, this stuff doesn't make good cable news fodder. I personally wrote letters of strong condemnation and dissociation to news papers without a single one making it to publication. Don't lump them together man, just because you haven't seen something personally doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

*I* wouldn't "lump them together." Don't forget, I'm the guy who gets painted with the same brush as the nutjob "God hates fags" "preacher" from KS...so I'm pretty familiar with the tactic. Let me just say this...and don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to offend, but if Osama Bin Laden was "Christian", he would've been caught YEARS ago. You know how anti-abortion I am, and how I believe it kills an innocent baby. So abortion cinics are pure hell on earth in my opinion. However, blowing one up would be counterproductive to "my cause", and if I knew who did it I'd rat them out in a heartbeat. If I were Muslim, and I saw video of people dancing/celebrating in the streets on 9/11, I'd write/post/do whatever I could to let peoiple know that the nutjobs didn't represent *me*. I do understand that many Muslims are (rightly) afraid to make too public of an anti-terrorism position, but it just seems to me that more could be done from the Islamic world to condemn these things. I'd *think* that killing 3000 innocent people would do more harm than good to "the cause", and that *somebody* would want to make damn sure the world knew that.
One thing I know quite a bit about is the "Word of Faith" movement. Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland/etc. A LOT of people look at these guys, and what they say, and figure that that's what all Christians believe. I hear it all the time. I doubt any athiest/non-Christian here has attacked them as much as I have. I see them on tv and think: "these people are driving people *away* from Christianity", so I do what I can to let people know that they don't speak for me. When a Falwell says that "Katrina was God pouring out his wrath on New Orleans" (or whatever he said that was similar), I let everyone I know know that that's not the God *I* serve, and that JF doesn't speak for me (or God). I could tell you 1000 horror stories that I've seen personally (telling an 8 year old with Spina Bifida "you're HEALED!", then taking his crutches away/etc). Point is, I spend more time attacking "Christians" than I ever do Muslims/JW's/etc. It's up to the believers to police their own ranks first.
1. Bin laden has been dead for a while.
2. Other than him, we have gotten thousands of terror suspects (filling gitmo for instance) including ksm and multiple no.2 operatives.. Who do you think ratted these out to Americans?
3. Pakistani army is currently engaged in a domestic effort to wipe these extremists from bajour and swat valley, even saudi which I am not a big fan of is on the offensive against these people. Tour statement implies none of this is happening, they (Muslims) are doing a lot, no press coverage or election time political rhetoric by obama does not imply lack of action.
Ugh, I don't even know where to start with that one. Palin has been hung mainly by what comes out of her mouth. There is a reason that she has been so cloistered from the media. She has proven herself to be incompetent when off-script. Forget about her attempt to ban books, or her questionable judgement (kids traveling on her state's dime, troopergate, etc) or her painfully poor understanding of the world. Her 'connective' power to the people is limited to the Republican base, and that's it. Yeah, I'm sure when she travels around she gets a lot of attention where ever she goes. Not surprising.... she is a controversial figure of hyper-focus in a very politically charged time. And she dresses very well and looks great, thanks to the RNC and all the 'Joe six-packs' donating to the campaign unawares that they were supporting a lavish wardrobe and $22,000 in makeup.
But this attention shouldn't be mistaken for authentic 'connection'. Henninger (or Michaels) has this totally confused.

Your comments are right on the mark.
She's a last ditch effort to save the McCain campaign. "Republican blow-up doll," "idiot," "Christian Stepford wife," "Jesus freak," "Caribou Barbie," "a dope," "a fatal cancer to the Republican Party," "liar," "a national disgrace" and "her pretense that she is a woman."

I'm just telling you what Joe Sixpack believes. It's not *my* job to tell him otherwise.

If I replied to any of that, Kees whould shut the thread down.
