Old thread I know but worth late commenting: For the most part the dealership does have an obligation to take the car back to a certain extent. BUT she made the mistake of financing her lease through CHASE, not BMW Financial Lease Services. Thats why you should stay with the financing provided by the Mfgr since more incentives are offered at lease end than that of an outside lender.

My last lease was from BMW on my 645 but since I payed 500 over invoice for my 08 e60 and there wasnt alot of dealer profit, they just requested that I take the car to another dealership for the lease return which I did with no problem. The 645 came from my 08 dealer and if they took it back they were not in a position to return it to BMW, they would have to sell it, and at the time last summer they could buy 645's manual trans for about 10g less than my payoff balance.

There were probably some certain conditions like I just described that BRECHT BMW had to abide by on this CHASE deal we dont know about, but love that Escondido California dealership, sales and service awesome. Now BMW of Riverside CA, that's a whole nother discussion.

I just hope that this does not make people think that all BMW dealerships are like this....I know that there are some true dogs out there, but there are some great ones as well!!!

I sure wish that BMW NA would stop hiding behind their Chicken S**T "we cannot do anything to a franchise" mentality and yank the franchises of these types of dealers....

Cheers,
