Saw EIGHT quad pipe E60's!!!

This was the last thing I expected when I woke up around 3pm today. I had a game in Stockholm yesterday and came home at 5am this morning after a veeeery long bustrip..
Me and a friend of mine were just sitting in my room and we were really bored when my brother called me and said:

- THERE'S EIGHT E60'S IN TOWN!!!!!!!!

And I was like: umm, ok.......... I'M ON MY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I screamed to my friend to get his @ss out to the car. He asked me just last week what it is that is so special about M's...
So he wasn't as exited about this as I were..

I live about 6km from "down town" Örnsköldsvik and broke the record for that distance by at least 5 minutes.

Anyway, when we got there we saw two trailers. They were standing in a "gas station area", there are 3 gas stations and one restaurant beside the highway/motorway or whatever you call it. The first one had some 3's, Minis, an X5 and an E39 wagon. The second trailer had not one, not two, not three but EIGHT E60's!! all of them were masked like in the pics we've seen and had quad pipes and 18" wheels except for one who had some 16" in hubcaps. I think it was 5 black, two dark blue and one silver IIRC.

And the first thing I noticed was the drilled, massive, HUGE brakes! Both front and rear. There was hardly any room at all between the brakes and the 18" BMW twin spoke alloys. If I had the money I would buy that car for the brakes alone.

Second thing I thought of was you guys here on the forum and then I realised that I had forgotten my camera!! I was so afraid that I would miss the cars so I just ran out of the house not thinking about any camera... My brother took my car and went to get his because he lives just nearby and I literary (sp?) ran into the nearest gas station and asked if they had any one-time-cameras. luckily they had and I nearly screamed to the girl behind the desk that I wanted one. (nice girl btw ) She asked me if I didn't want to know the price first but I said I didn't care. Ran back out and was able to take 3-4 pics before a german guy came with a smile on his face and his pointing-finger (?) going back and forth. I thought he would take the camera but he didn't. After him came his not so very happy friend who looked like he could pull out a gun and shoot me just for the fun of it.. But luckily he didn't... Then they left immidiatily.
Was able to take a few more pics when they left but don't know the quality of this crappy camera.. My brother didn't make it back before they left so I only have probably crappy pics..

Anyway, the car doesn't look so big in the metal as it does in the pics IMO. The bangeld butt is not noticible and although it was masked, the car looked good! but that was maybe beacuse it WAS masked... they had the same spoilers like the pics we'we seen before except for the extra hole for the 2 extra pipes. I didn't get any chance to look inside of the cars because of the trailer so couldn't see if there were any SMG. Could only see the top of the dash and that was masked also but I did stretch my arm up and took a pic inside. I was so exited that I barley knew where to look at the d@mn cars to see some M stuff. What I did see was the four tail pipes and the brakes.. and oh my god the brakes... And oh... I touched it!!

We're not so spoiled up here with top end cars (only one E39 M5 and two E46 M3's.. ) so this was THE highlight of my automobile career!!!!

Zlaatan,

thanks for sharing this info with us!....it sounds like a very exciting event, and you are probably the first to give us some details of a real e65 M5....

I hope you can scan the pics in to share with us!!

cheers for your M5 spirit and NEED to buy a disposable camera for the sake of the M5 pics!! SOunds like you saw something a bit more exciting than the diesel I saw the other day here in germany!

ps...how big were the brakes ? percentage of the wheels or rotors?

good stuff!

That is a very poor April fools joke.

Look at the time of the post. It was before Midday, and no response since.

Whilst I hope it isn't a joke, the thing I found suspicious is 8 cars with big brakes.

They would still be developing the M5, so I doubt they would set eight up.

Any other day I would be thoroghly impressed. However this is not cool if it was an April fools joke.

If it wasn't a joke, then you are defineately the man.

But I'm leaning towards the joke until I see these pics.

This is NOT an april fools joke!

If it was then everybody on this forum would have zero respect for me for all eternity and that's definately something I don't want!

I'm going to a photo store to get the pics developed today, don't know how long that takes, and then I will find a scanner and get those freakin pics up to show you those brakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still having this face from seeing those massive brakes.

I would compare them to these (wheel on the right in the first pic) but then you'll have to remember that these wheels are 19" and the E60's had 18" but it was kinda the same proportions.

HOWEVER that was both front AND REAR!!

So no more april fools comments please because I would never do that to you guys.

Auaight! /Martin

My Appologies Zlaatan. Its been a crazy day.

And P.S. YOU DA MAN for getting those pics.

I held off and held off and held off buying because I wanted an E60 M5. And when they stated talking two to three years away I took the plunge and ordered the E 39 . It will be here this month.

And now on April fools day someone tells me their are not one but 8 E60 M5's with finally crossed drilled brakes. OMG.

I look forward to the pics.

Does this mean that the M's will be released shortly after the 5's.

I'd like to have the E39 at least one year before the E 60 M5 is out.

It always takes at least 6 months longer to get down here anyway.
