Vancouver BC auto show with the bmwm5.com gang - a special exotic highlight

Today was a good day. Not only did I get to see some old friends again. It was almost exactly one year ago when I had the chance to go on my first official NW M5 drive with some folks from bmwm5.com.

Going to a meet was a good way for us all to relieve our experiences once again. Starting things off, we met for an early lunch at a local sports bar & grill directly across the street from the BC place where the 2003 automobile & light truck show was taking place. There was a number of interesting cars & trucks that I had my eyes out for.

Naturally, we couldn't resist making a stop at the BMW booth to check out the car that started it all.

They were also showing "Star" and a crowd would develop everytime!

Right besides the screen was an old friend, the Z8

And then, from left to right, myself, polvoronn, Lupo///M5 and VanCooper besides a Sepia M5.

We also had the chance to peruse cars of every type:

The new Viper

A "police" Civic?!?

The new Ford F150

Oh baby, the new WRX Sti! 300 hp!

A pit crew changing tires as fast as they could

The new S4 Avante

With those beautiful suede Recaro seats

Naturally, the folks from Jaguar had to bring in the special "bad guy" supercharged XKE used in the latest 007 flick

Something interesting could be found by looking up close at the tailpipes in the back

Look closer....

Yep, it wasn't real! It wasn't even connected!

And later on, I spied a lovely new steed, the Audi A8

I really think that BMW could learn a thing or two from the designers over at Audi. They have created a truly remarkable piece of machinery just chock full of the latest technological gadgets. The new MMi is a joy to use being very intuitive.

Demonstration of the MMi system

And now what you folks have all been waiting for, an incredible piece of exotic machinery first introduced to us folks on this board by none other than the elusive z8tako.

The Lamborghini Murcielago in all its glory, available at $410,000 CDN.

I knew I wanted one from the moment they fired up all twelve of these pistons!

A nice parting close up shot of Lupo///M5's new eisenmann exhaust.

And the rest of the images can be found here in addition to the full resolution images.

Thanks to VanCooper, polvoronn and Lupo///M5 for meeting up with me and going to the car show!

Thanks to everyone for showing up today. It was great to get back up to speed with Lupo and his "back in Carbon black" story, I hopefully soon will be able to say "Back in Jet black" in the near future!

Wonderful pics and I must say that I'm a definite Lamborghini convert now that I've seen the Murciélago. The soon-to-be-available Gallardo will certainly be THE car to have later this year. I was in AWE when they fired up the V-12, that thing just had such a nice settled and deep idle!

P.S. The movie "Star" still attracts hundreds of people when played...

I glad you had a good time at the show. Thanks for the pics! I love a black/red Z8. How did you get such a close shot of the XKR's pipes? I thought it had a guard-rail around it to keep people at a distance.

They don't call me the picture poster extraordinaire for nothing!

Seriously though, if you look closer at the picture with the railing around the XKE you'll notice that it's pretty close in the back. I also zoomed in a bit too.

It was great going around the autoshow with you guys yesterday. Lupo, your car is outstanding! And yesterday was the first time I truly got to see Carbon Black become Carbon 'Blue'. Lunch was great too.

Jason, the pics of the install are here: http://www.bmwm5.com/photo/showgalle...=1&ppuser=2643 . After seeing the pics, they really do "make sense," as Lupo said.

Thanks for posting my thread, Paolo. I have a few others, let me know if you'd like to see them. Paolo, don't forget to check out the GT2 at London Motorcars. It was really great seeing you all again, sharing some great conversation, and enjoying the cars at the auto show.

Great pics, Jason.
