        *New* Lidatek GP info

        Hey guys,

Wanted to say hello to everyone here as an avid BMW owner. There is now a *new* Lidatek Laser Echo LE-20 GP in effect as we speak. It will end promptly on Friday, September 13th. There are presently (14) confirmed orders so far from other BMW groups. I hope that we can get more to participate so that we may increase the discount applied to the purchases. Those that missed the firsy GP may want to get in on this one. Same rules apply.

Please contact me at BMBum@hotmail.com to inform me of your interest in participating.

Here is a quoted copy of the reply email recently sent to me from Lidatek:

        William,

I'll try to answer all your questions if I can.

Lidatek ships with FedEx and the shipping costs will be approximately $15 and $16 for single and dual unit systems to the East coast and $12.50 and $13.50 for single and dual unit systems to the West. These prices will give you some idea of the range in cost.

The best discount we are prepared to give is 20% for 24 or more systems.

As far as payment methods are concerned, we take all types of credit cards (preferably Amex). We do accept money orders, however we can't ship anything until we receive the check here. Lidatek has not used paypal in the past, but we would be willing to make arrangements if your group feels strongly about it.

It is not possible to have three transponders connected together (1 Master + 2 Slaves). Each master unit (LE-20) can accept one slave unit (LE-20T). Generally we dissuade customers from spending money to put jammers on the rear of cars. They are difficult to mount, they won't get used very much, and the effectiveness of jamming from behind is not as good do to the close ranges and angles involved in such an encounter.

We would like to see one final group buy list at some point with the following information:

Customer name (as it appears on the card)

        What is wanted (LE-20 or LE-20 + LE-20T)

        Phone number

        Email

Shipping address (a signature will be required for delivery)

Billing address (Same as on file with their credit card)

We will contact everybody a day or two before we ship to collect the credit card numbers and expiration dates.

There is another important point you should communicate with you group. Do to a greater than expected demand for Echos, coupled with Lidatek moving into a bigger location in early September, we will be unable to ship any units to your group until the third week of September. You should double check and verify that everyone on your list will be willing to wait until then. I apologize for this rather long lead time but as a (re)starting company, we had to be conservative with our initial sales and production quantities. The delay will allow time to collect everybody's info, and give them the opportunity to call us with any specific questions they may have about the Laser Echo or LIDAR before they commit to a purchase.

If you or any of your group have any other question, don't hesitate to call us at 360 658 9202.

        Regards,

        Andrew Cole

        Follow-up, just to be fair

While I did not hear much during the transaction, by LE-20 with two transponders showed up as promised, when promised. And FedEx shipping to Atlanta was $15.

Now I just gotta find the time to get the install done!

Did quite a bit of research on all of these products and came to the conclusion that Lidatek's Le-20 with extra transponder is clearly the way to go. The biggest problem with the Blinder and K-40 (other than the fact that they use LED's) is that they only respond to laser directed at the front license plate and a small distance surrounding it. In some tests, jamming failed with the beam directed as little as 6 to 8 inches away from the plate. Cops can direct their beam at your front headlight as well and other products may not respond to it as well or not at all.
