The visit to RUF, test drive, pics and videos of a amazing saturday.

Arrived in Munich at 9am, tired but excited, we had rented a Mercedes C220 cdi, I'm ashamed to tell you guys that but the reason is I want to say how terrible the car was.

So we left the airport and the first car we see is this...good omen or what...

So we head to Pfaffenhausen, on the way we saw an E60 mule, i posted this on the E60 board...
http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/showt...threadid=25722

That was exciting, anyways we didnt get lost at all...no really

So we arrived at RUF and we were greeted by Mr Ruf, then he took us to a local Italian restaurant, Simon and i had pizzas while my pa and Mr Ruf enjoyed Spagetti...lots was discussed over the table, Mr Ruf assured me that RUF will be doing another Faszination video in the spring with the R Turbo and the CTR... ...and generally it was really nice chatting to mr Ruf, also he was very aware of the messageboard

So we then headed back to the factory where we met his wife, Estonia, one of the nicest ladies! And she was just as enthusiastic about cars too! And really nice, im sorry i just cant stress how nice they were,

Here is a pic of me and Sid in the showroom, as you can see we are standing with a REAllY nice R Turbo which will be shipped to a customer in a few weeks, one of the nciest touches was that the drivers seat was bolstered more in the shoulders as the owner liked to take the car to the limit and found that he needed more support, every RUF car is individual

Then we had a tour of the factory, inside there was so much, from a porsche 959 to an original beetle in restoration, I had never seen so many turbos let alone R Turbos in one place there was one which was going a prince in bahrain,

Beautiful, and you can just see the 380 mm brakes and six piston calipers very nice car. Also there was the famous yellow RUF R Turbo, however it is the second yellow one, you see the first one had the "whiskers" front spoiler and was seen in the EVO review last year and the license plate with 330 in it,

The one there has the new generation GT2 esque front and the license plate 350...these numbers are denoting top speed reached
Anyways 350 was just such a beautiful car, hand built it just oozed quality, and was owned by Mr Ruf.

in the background you can see the black R Turbo

also the vintage porsche sid was looking at is an extremely rare RS which came from the factory without a whale tale, one of five built .

This is a pic of a R Turbo before manufacture, it is in a special ferrari grey...titanium silver...and is being built for the brother of another member of the board who already owns an R Turbo....
..

Here is a pic of a widebody Red CTR 2 and a grey 959, both in for a routine service...

After the tour came the test drive, of the yellow RUF, mere words and to an extent pictures cannot describe the event therefore i took some video

to watch these go to my album: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290983899

and go to intro and also amazing acceleration and high speed crusing...they are numbers five six and seven respectively. Please note that non of the videos showed maximum accleration...more like 3/4 in a high gear to show the torque of the car...

After the test drive we returned to the factory where sorted out options etc, after that Mr Ruf invited us to come with him and Estonia to a small Christmas market in a nearby town, it was getting dark and a little wet but that didnt stop Mr Ruf from giving my pa the keys to his yellow R which he was going to drive while following myself and mr and mrs ruf in a 996 turbo with engine upgrade... ....how can i describe the following journey, with great difficulty other than one of the best experiences of my life..basically when we got to the autobahn it was surreal, ...instead of burying the throttle in sixth like in the videos above mr ruf downhifted to 4th...i was watching the speedo and it just didnt slow down, the digital readout was just taking huge chunks out of numbers... the acceleration was just phenomenal as we nearly touched 300km/h. To put it into context the same urge was felt at 150mph in the RUF when floored as at 100mph when flooring it in the M5..no joke...
here is a pic of the castle and market we visited...

Overall one of the best saturdays of my life,
all the best

Adam that is incredible! And what wonderful hospitality by the Ruf's as well. I am just curious -- does your pa know the Rufs at all, or how did you get to meet them? The hospitality they provided is just incredible, it would never be found in the US...

Did Mr. Ruf have any comment on BMW's design direction?

Wonderful pictures and stories! Thanks so much for sharing, and hats off to Mr. Ruf and family

AWESOME!!! Well documented, too. I'd guess that you had the feeling (I've had it several times) that you were in the presence of a lot of stuff that was really special.

Adam,

For a 17 years old, your car expertise and experience is well beyond your years. Great job.

Is your dad buying a RUF turbo? He must be a real enthusiast. Is he on this board also.

Thanks for your wonderful thread. Have a great hiloday season.
