Lidatek install write-up complete!

Hey guys,

I finally found time around chasing down a one and a half year old to finish my lidatek install and write it up. You can check it out at:

Let me know what you think...good luck!

Excellent writeup! I initially looked at the same location for the switch and led. But I could not get a good line of site to view the led due to the steering wheel being in the line of site and where my hands are positioned while driving. I opted to mount the speaker and the led in the dash vent. You can mount the led and speaker in line of site and hearing.

Lidatek LED and speaker location (the speaker is mounted inside the vent)

Is the red square switch the one you got with your Lidatek? I got some cheesy small toggle switch. The one you installed is cool, the one that I received in my kit is not worthy of mounting anywhere near the dash. That sucks, I wonder if they would send me the nicer switch, suitable for dash mounting.

Hey Oak,

You're right about the line-of-sight to the LED, mine is impaired as well. OTOH, it's more for show than anything as I won't really need to see it 99% of the time. I think the speaker will give the biggest part of the warning :-) **** that thing is loud!

As for the switch, that's actually a radio shack push-on push-off soft switch for the RCA jacks I had installed on my tuner. I hook my MP3 player up to those jacks, turn on the radio, and now all I do is press the button to switch from radio source to MP3. Pretty slick really.

There are several nice switches available from radio shack which would replace the switch lidatek sends out. But again, it'll be mostly for show., since I can't think of too many reasons to switch the thing off. In fact, the only reason I can think of at all is just to test that the transponders are connected without turning off the car (the system gives a chirp and flash for each LED detected).

And your speaker and LED mount locations are great. I may very well have used those if I hadn't already mounted mine by the time I saw your pics...ah well, pleased wth my setup too. Even more pleased that it's finally ready to drive :-)

Bee, Sounds like plan! Let me know when you get the lidatek! Did you get my email about the Euro tuner meet at Fontana? I didn't hear back from you, I had extra comp'd tickets. Since I didn't hear from you I gave them back. I plan on being there around 8 am.
