I am back from Kelleners Sport

I am back from a 6000 km trip across Europe from Sweden to the south of France (800 km /day ) and I had a stop scheduled at Kellerners on my way south. I had a very good reception from Dirk G, very professional, they did the work right on schedule and even cleaned my car.

I had the ECU upgrade installed, their short shift and exhaust (only silencers, not manifolds and catalysers). Only dissapointment was that my car only had 370hp stock but was up to 390 after the upgrade. Torque is now a little bit higher than a stock M5. I am very very happy with the conversion. The short shift is way better than the stock version, it really makes a huge difference and I can't recommand it enough on this car. The exhaust sound is glorious, very deep under 2000 rpms then really beautifull above 4000 rpms . In the middle it's not so loud, which is good when you drive long distances. I attracted a lot of attention on the ferry back to Sweden . Earlier I was gona pick my father up in town, he told me he could tell long before that I was nearing ! This is the way a car like this one should sound

Driving the car so much was a blast from the beginning to the end ! I was passed only twice during the trip (I will post more in the race section when I have time ) and the car worked very well even pushed at very high speeds for long time periods. I learned a lot about the car capacities by driving hard for so long(my 1st trip through Europe with the M5 was with my wife so I couldn't drive as hard as I wanted to) and I was trully impressed, this thing is a real motorway monster. At some point I managed to cover 90km in just under 25 minutes, now I am a star with the French police, they probably have pictures of me all over place . Suspension upgrade and anti sway bars will come next, it would help for long high speed curves for example.

Right now I am very happy with my car , Thanks to all of you, I would not have looked into the tunning experience without the bmwm5 board. Specific thanks to our members from Poland the UK, Sweden etc... who had done the trip before me and provided help

Cheers

I arrived in Dinslaken on Tuesday 14,00 and got my car back on wenesday 15,00 (I had a 316 compact as a loaner for free). Basically they need a full day.
I felt like they new the M5 very very well, much better than my dealer . If you decide to go for it go to their web site www.kelleners-sport.com and send a mail ref Dirk Gonska.

PS - I only state my view, I am not liked to them in any way other than being a so far very satisfied client

Great!

Vince,

Great to know there is another beast sounding like mine close
to me. We should try to meet some day and enjoy these lovely
cars and their brutal sound. Can you imagine the looks and
sound of two Kelleners tuned M5 blasting along the E4?!?

Enjoy your new sound and car...

By the way...do you have back seats you can fold forward? If
you can...drive the car with them down and the passanger
window slightly open and you will hear your exhaust in a wierd
stereo like manner!

All the best,

Fedde

Lionking

Fedde,

Thought I spotted your "lionking" today outside the centralstation in Stockholm. I soon saw that the wheels were Hartge Nova 5's and 19's (I think) and when I got closer I saw that it had all black interior, so it wasen't the "Lionking". The exhaust pipes looked a little bit bigger than original, Kelleners?

If the owner is on this board and reads this. Very beautiful car!

Vince and Fedde,
What happens with insurance after the mods, and what does "bilprovningen" say, when it's time for inspection 1 or 2 years down the road?

Great story!! Kelleners really know what good service is.

Maybe we could arrange some sort of BMWM5.com meeting this summer in Stockholm or anywhere near. That would be fun, I think.

SemiBeast - I don't know what Bilprovning will say ? Dirk told me the exhaust was around 85 decibels without cats and manifolds (95 without) so my guess is that it should be OK . As for toxic gaz emmissions they follow the EU regulations. We will see, I kept my stock parts just in case
It's worth the risk to me

For the insurance, you can suscribe to a tunning insurance at Kelleners. It covers engine, gear box etc... and I kept my old insurance unchanged. The tunning insurance was around 350 Euro a year.

Mr Janne - that would be really cool

The insurance company does not need to know unless you want to claim extra money for the mods in case of a damage. In that case you should negotiate another policy and perhaps pay a little extra.

"Besiktning" shouldn't be a problem.

SemiBeast: I haven't been in central Stockholm for a while so it
wasn't me

When it comes to ensurance, just to be on the safe side, I have
arranged one from a company in Swizzerland that offers a set
of policies for tuned cars. I know people with tuned M3:s that
have used them after their engines have blown (M3:s do have
problems!) and it has worked out OK. But as Johan writes, your
original company doesn't have to know anything...I keep the
other one in case of extreme bad luck

When it comes to getting the car checked by "Bilprovningen" I
have never had a problem with my previous tuned cars. It all
depends on if the guy that checks your car woke up on the
right side that morning. I also try to be very helpful and
friendly and come with the car REALLY clean and nothing ever
happened to me. But again...just in case I have all the stock
parts in my garage just in case...

Vince5: What were the limitations of the Kelleners ensurance?
100.000 km? I have to renew mine this autumn and maybe it
would best to go with one from Kelleners themselves...do you
remember the terms from the top of your head?

All the best,

Fedde
