I remember reading in Road & Track Top speed (1998 or 1999)issue where they test a Ruf Turbo, a Mac F1, F550M, Henessey Viper, etc. all the cars were driven by Mario Andretti. His comment was that the Mac F1 was the most UNSTABLE car at high speed, followed by the Ruf Porsche (due to bad wheel alignment).

He was most impressed by the F 550M and said it is the best vehicle at high speed that day. Quite contradictory huh ??

You need to double check your source. The sl55 can not posts some of those performance #'s. It's simply not possible.

O-187mph (0-300kph) in 13.72 with missed gearchange. There are other movies with 7-8 second qtr miles.

The actual exvitermini site is a NZ guy who is building a 1450bhp skyline, over 1100bhp at the (AWD) wheels. There is a picture of him by the block with the caption "Turbos - must be bigger than your head" !! And they have to be water-cooled!!

His engineering companies motto is "engineered to be feared".


I said it on another post, if I had serious money, then what a laugh to buy another one of my £5000-8000 10 year old E34 M5s and drop a 1000bhp+ skyline motor and a custom RWD transmission & gearbox in!!

What do you reckon - 210mph ? 220?

That's one bad car. And it looks sooooo nice too.

I was very intertested in an Z8. Now I'll wait another year and see what the SL55 actually looks like. The retractable hard top should make for a more comfortable cabin than the Z8 in the long term.

Chances are it'll be just as difficult to get one as the M5 was in October 1999 to July 2001.

You can order the car without the speed-limiter. So I guess most of them will be un-restricted.
