Needs some DIY advice on front brakes.
After 6 months of front end "wobble" or vibration during braking at 40mph+ I have decided it is time for rotors and pads. This is a true indicator with any other car why not an M5. 7 months ago by recommendation of the local BMW dealer they replaced bushings and strut mounts for $600+ which of course did not fix the problem. Have taken the car to the highway for a few higher speed brake runs to "clean" the rotors/pads with no resolve.

    * My M5 is a 2001 with 54k miles and do not drive agressively (well some times on a select off ramp or local back road) or plan to track the car in the near future.

So, here are my questions to those with more experience: For the money should I go OEM or high performance replacement.? Would the DIY's suggest this work or take to a dealer.? Lastly, is there any threads on brake rotor/pad replacement?.

So for all those who are not BMW mechanics by trade, do not have all the specialized tools, yet enjoy looking under the hood for the easy projects with little risk - I have the repair. Replacing your O2 sensors.

A few months ago after pulling SES codes at Advanced Auto Parts I found my PreCat O2 sensor had failed at 55k miles - yikes. Like any code this was scary and seemingly costly - not this one. As long as you can get the M front end off the ground with a set of borrowed ramps the rest is plug and play. And you get to enjoy the view of the massif M5 exhaust system.

Replaced both PreCat 02's parts $90 each, labor ZERO, 30mins start to finish, with the enjoyment factor better than the 4th fireworks.

Oh, and the SES light which I have had to look at for the last 8 months reset itself, immediate satisfaction! Love this car !!
