Those valves do not make it go from race to sport, no. The basic function of the valves is when you are at low RPM, they are in the closed position, and increase the low end torque, then when in higher RPM's and/or WOT throttle, it goes open to increase HP. It is not activated by anything inside the car. I can't speak directly for this car as I haven't had my hands on one yet, but most activate on a certain RPM, throttle position, or a combination of both.
