I think many have followed the development thread on the new long tube, equal length headers from Infinity Design.

These are extremely well engineered headers with long primary runners for optimization of exhaust pulse timing. The equal length ensures that exhaust pulses do not reach the collector at the same time creating standing waves. The standing waves slightly reduce exhaust gas velocity and result in the alteration of the characteristic V10 "F1 sound" the S85 is famous for.

We are happy to announce that the first production set has been installed at fitment verified. Unlike many previous aftermarket headers, these headers can be installed and retain the OEM heat shields in place around the lower engine bedplate seam as well as the upper shields near the frame rails. Note: some alteration of the shields is required, bending them slightly to accommodate fitment, but it is possible.

Retail pricing will be $2995 for these headers, including shipping to locations in the US. Overseas shipping can be arranged, please contact us prior to purchase and we will get the best possible rate for you.

Fast Attack Motorsports is proud to offer and introductory price for these headers of $2750 shipped for the first 10 sets sold. Now that the in-car fitment has been completed, performance testing will be verified in the coming two weeks. Production of the headers has commenced and production timeline is expected to complete around the middle of July. Updates to this schedule will be published on our website as well as here in this thread.

Purchasing is available on our website here:

The first questions will be sound and performance, these answers are coming soon. The fitment car has some other engine work to be completed before road testing and should be completed in a week or so.

To truly extract the most power from these headers, a proper tu in of the exhaust VANOS maps is necessary. We will be offering a discounted purchase price out tune as well in a couple of days and this will be fully developed specifically for these headers as well as any other modifications you may have.

Dynos results and VBox results to follow as well.

This is so exciting! Time to start saving. Are you going to be offering an alpha n tune as well at some point to go with these?

So, the test vehicle is finally back together after entirely too long. This vehicle came to me with a "knock" sound from the engine and came from auction with salvage title. It was purchased fully expecting engine replacement and sent up to me from Boston. The owners had told me that oil pump chain was broken, but convinced me to take the oil pan off and inspect. Much to my surprise, even thought the engine had been run with no oil pump at idle, the rod bearings were in better condition at 92k miles than many I've seen at half that, so it couldn't have been run much without oil pressure.

I replaced the VANOS pump (grenaded), Oil pump, oil pump chaing, VANOS drive gears, rod bearings, and high pressure line and thoroughly flushed the entire engine. Reassembly took a very long time because the car came missing nearly every fastener and bracket that is removed when pulling the oil pan, so ordering and waiting for odds and ends took weeks.

Now. How does it sound? Amazing. The first few test drives were very ginger, as I was balancing the need to carefully evaluate a newly rebuilt bottom end and the desire to see what the headers do. I can say without a doubt though, the torque delivery on this car with stock exhaust, stock intakes, and zero tuning is...incredible. I've never seen an otherwise stock car break traction from a 1-2 no-lift shift for as long as this done on PSS2s.

And, as luck would have it, as soon as I got set up to take a few videos, the PLCD failed and the car refused to cooperate. This was not unexpected, having contacted the original owner before it went to salvage, he indicated a clutch/transmission problem was part of what caused the accident that damaged the oil pump drive assembly (front end collision). PLCD ordered, videos to come with both stock exhaust and a full straight pipe setup I have as spare.

Stay tuned!

Very eager to hear what these sound like and some dyno results! @jcolley

Ok, after learning to use Final Cut Pro a bit, here's a compilation of videos.

Camera: GoPro
Microphone: Behringer ECM 8000 Reference
Audio Interface: Presonus FireStudio Mobile feeding GoPro mic jack.

Car: 2008 M5
Headers: Infinity Design S85 Equal Length Long Tube Headers
Exhaust: Custom 2.5" exhaust with secondary cats only

Yes, this car is obnoxiously loud. Initially I installed the OEM exhaust in the car and the sound was virtually unchanged from stock. After replacing the faulty PLCD, I decided this exhaust I had laying around might be more inspirational. The owners have picked up the car and asked the straight pipes be left on, but took the OEM back with them. Dyno is scheduled for next week or so. Oh, and they're looking at putting Eisenmann Race on it. Yeah. ;)

So, the first 3 of the Intro offering are sold. 2 slots remaining at the $2750 price.

ID is making a couple of adjustments to the primary flanges to make bolt-up easier, so a small delay, but nothing major. I expect updated schedule info in the next couple of days.

Would be interested in dyno results also.

These headers + tune vs. stock + tune.

Also, do these headers require any more space than stock?

So is this info available?

Stock headers + FAMS tune

vs.

Infinity Design headers + FAMS tune

Just bought an another E60 BMW M5, doing an engine swap from Troy. I need headers and would like to see more videos. I couldn't open up the video at this moment. Does it still have that same F1 sound to it? Very important to me. Also what gains in power and torque are we talking about without any cats, mufflers, just straight exhaust. Get back to me ASAP.

Anyone know if the production delays with the ID headers was sorted out yet?
