I hope I am understanding the forum rules correctly on this posting. My understanding is that a non-sponsor can make a single post to announce a new product. Moderator, if that is not correct please PM me and take the appropriate action with this post.

German Auto Solutions is very happy to announce a new product along with a fantastic introductory sale price.

We have just released our Monoball front suspension kit for the E60. I won't go into all the technical details here because all of the great features of this Monoball kit are thoroughly described on the product's webpage. I will just hit a few key points:

  1. Price - Our "non" sale price of this kit is awesome, but the sale price takes another $130.00 off.
  2. We have made a few key design changes to our Monoball kit compared to our competitors designs. I'll let you read the specifics on the webpage link.
  3. We have designed a custom tool specifically to allow removal of the factory rubber bushing while the control arm is still attached to the car. All that is required is to remove the through bolt at the subframe mount, swing the control arm down, use our tool to remove the bushing, install our Monoballs, swing the control arm back up and bolt in place. This is a big deal. The entire job can now be done in 1-2 hours without the vehicle down time that would normally be required to take the removed control arms to a shop equipped to press the bushings out of the control arms. The tool is offered as a $25.00 rental when you purchase the Monoball kit.
  4. Highly detailed on-line instructions to make the install as easy as possible.
  5. Kit comes with everything required to perform the install, including new factory lock nut, Scotch-Brite pad, Loctite sleeve locking compound and Loctite activator/primer.
  6. Your choice of stainless steel or titanium hardware.

I am very excited about being able to offer this very high quality kit for such a low price. I have been running a beta version of these Monoballs on my M5 for almost a year now and I love them!

I will be very happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for looking,

Gary

Xeno,

The regular price is $379.00 for the set plus $25.00 for the tool rental plus $25.00 if you want the titanium hardware upgrade.

The sale price is $299.00 including the titanium hardware and the tool rental.

To purchase just follow the link in the original post and at the bottom of that page is the purchasing link. You will have to select the "titanium hardware" and "tool rental" options at the shopping cart and enter the promo code shown at check out to receive the $130.00 off.

There is a $100.00 security deposit required for the tool rental that is refunded once the tool is returned. There is also a link on the Monoballs product page to the installation instructions if anyone wishes to get that out.

Keep the questions coming.

Thanks,

Gary

Question, does the tool allow removal of the existing bushing without damage? I may replace my brand new ones and just sell the OEM ones. Since I run a BBK, I'll wear out the OEM one faster than normal so may just eat the price on the OEM one I just installed.

nice work. are all the raw materials "primary" and made in USA? will these work on an e39 M5?
I'm very sorry, I don't know how I missed this post.

Everything except the ball joint (German) is made by us here in the United States.

They won't fit the E39. We are currently working on releasing the E90 version but the E39 will come after that.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary-
e39 bushings wear out frequently. 30K-40K mile intervals. I'm sure several members on that side of the board would be interested in purchasing a set from you. I installed my e60 dinan balls back in February and love them. I did my e39 bushing about 7K miles ago. if these were available back then, I'd have jumped on board.

Installed my set!

Installed my set Sunday. The tool works fantastic and easy job without having to remove the ball joint side of the arm.

Still haven't had a chance to really exercise the car with the new bushings but much tighter in general.

This is a great upgrade and cost-neutral if you need to replace your Control/Thrust arms when the stock bushings get weak. I've purchased the DISA valve fix from GAS for a couple of E46 in the past and also had a great experience with those.

I had to have this kit the moment I saw it. It's rare to drive a late model BMW that doesn't clunk over driveway entrances or pulling onto my lift.
I'll post with install feedback. Looking forward. Thanks for designing what the Krauts should have in the first place.

How different is this kit than Dinan ones? What about NVH? The solution to solving the deflection with the cheap stock bushings seems similar between this kit and Dinan. Dinan is few hundred $$$ more though

How different is this kit than Dinan ones?
Dinan makes a lot of great products and their monoballs are one of them. That being said, we do a few things differently than Dinan with our kit. There is a lot of detailed information on the website explaining those differences if you would more info than what's in this short post.
BMW E60 Monoball Tech Page

The main differences are:

  • Our monoballs are a tighter fit to the control arm bores. This means no chance of clunking noises because the monoball housings have no room to move around in the bore. The tighter fit also means that there is no reliance on the locking compound to fill dead space. This is even more important considering that their kit does not include a primer/activator to guaranty that the locking compound cures in a timely fashion. If the monoballs have any chance to more around in the control arm bore before the Loctite cures, the Loctite will just get pushed out of the way, and you could end up with a less than optimum fit between the monoball housing and the control arm. Without a primer/activator the Loctite could take days or even weeks to fully cure when used on all aluminum parts.
  • Our retaining screws pass through the retaining end cap and thread into the monoball housing, giving us 23mm of thread engagement. In their design the retaining screws pass through the housing and thread into the retaining end cap, giving their design about 6mm of thread engagement into an aluminum part. The only down side of our design has to do with anodizing. Deep, small diameter threaded holes can cause the anodizing color die to run and leave minor streaks in the color around the holes. Since this area is not visible on an assembled unit, I feel that I would much rather have the strength of our design and live with the possibility of minor cosmetic blemishes that are not visible once assembled. In our next production run I will probably drill and tap those holes after the anodizing process.
  • We are the only ones that offer a custom tool which allows the removal the factory bushings and the installation of our kit while the control arms are still on the car.

If you would like more details please feel free to ask me anything you like about our kit.

What about NVH?
I have noticed only a very slight increase in harness, and no increase in noise or vibration. I'm sure others can weigh in on this as well.

Thanks,

Gary

Which version of E39 do you have? I see that the M5 and 540's have a beefier control arm which has room for this style of ball joint. The 525's and 530's have control arms with smaller bushing bores. I see Dinan only makes theirs for the M5's and 540's.

Gary, how long does the Loctite take to fully cure using the activator? Does the car need to sit during this time? Assuming it's longer than the basic assembly time.
If I remember correctly it will take a basic set in 20-30 minutes. Full cure will be temperature dependent but you can operate the vehicle by the time you can take it down from the lift.

With our design the Loctite is an added safety measure. I have been running mine for almost a year without any locking agent. Because of the closer tolerances there really isn't any extra room for the monoballs to move around in the control arm bore but it is always better with suspension components to error on the side of safety.

So I completed my install today. My install ended up being rather unusual so not a accurate measure of the normal process but I will say the quality of the product and the installer is quite amazing. I haven't taken it out yet for a drive but look forward to tomorrow.

Also, hands down the best support ever from GAS. I ran into trouble because a prior owner had, unbeknownst to me, replaced the bushings with a non-OEM option. Gary was readily available to discuss and provide commentary after seeing pictures. Absolutely top notch.

Install complete

G.A.S. Monoballs are in and working beautifully.
Concise instructions and a quality product.
Well done Gary. My car has a pampered 68k miles and the stock bushings were toast.
Car is now tight and sharp. Tool is on its way back to you.
I will recommend your product to my customers. I'll save my old stock bushing to show how crappy the OEM rubber is.

Thanks again.

Thanks to the guys that provided feedback on the kit.

This is just a reminder to everyone else that the $130.00 discount price is only available for a few more days.

There aren't very many products that can transform the handling of your M5 for less than $300.00, especially if it's time to replace your factory rubber bushings anyway.

Thanks,

Gary
