Got my tune in today.

So far I can comment on the fact that it definitely idles a lot smoother!! More updates after more seat time.

Another Review

For those of you reading this thread and trying to decide if you want this tune or not let me help you out a little.

The short answer is BUY IT!

Here is the long answer. I bought my 08 M5 manual transmission in December of 2011. There were a few complaints I had from day one regarding the engine/performance. My issues revolved primarily around the smoothness of the engine and driving experience. I had this weird thing where when the car had been sitting for an hour or so after being driven, and then, if started up again, it would do this up and down exercise with the idle. It would fluctuate between 700 and 1100 rpms for a good 5+ minutes and then settle down although it would still go up and down a bit. It became very irritating. I now understand there are a number of factors contributing to this and some forum members said that their cars don’t do it while some say theirs does. Of course BMW claims it’s all normal which at this point I cannot argue.

The other issue I had was regarding drivability. It always felt to me like the throttle was not at all linear and at times seemed to be inconsistent with what I thought I was doing with my right foot. It just seemed hard to modulate the throttle to get smooth take off’s and gear shifts. I have been driving a manual consistently for over 5 years now and actually learned how to drive on a manual car so I knew it was not all me.
I had been researching different tunes for our cars for a few months before the Eurocharged came up for the group buy. With all the different options it was hard to make a final decision. The thing that really sealed the deal for me was the price!

I purchased the tune and programmer and installed it the day after it came in the mail. Jerry was awesome in getting my tune back to me ASAP! I drove around for a couple weeks to get a good feel for it as a whole.

For me and my experience this tune was absolutely perfect. In fact, considering the price I don’t think there is a better tune out there. There are more powerful tunes to be sure but I didn’t want to spend twice as much money chasing a few extra horsepower. The difference in the car is night and day. No more funky idle, total predictability in throttle response and the added power is a huge bonus! It just makes the car such a joy to drive! It’s so SMOOTH now I just cannot imagine going back to the stock tune. Smooth is the word of the year for me with this car. Again, the added horsepower is great and I do feel it with my butt dyno but the way the tune smoothed out the driving experience makes it totally worth it. I even think it’s worth the retail price! The GB price was just a bonus!
Just for reference sake, my car is basically stock. I have the RPI scoops, block off plates and BMC filter and I removed the charcoal filters but other than that it’s totally stock. It has about 42k miles on it as of this writing and I put in new spark plugs about a week after I got the tune.
If you are not chasing every single horsepower and are looking to improve the daily drivability of this awesome car this is the tune for you. I just love it and am so glad I pulled the trigger. Thanks Jerry and Eurocharged!!!
