Our new trunk mounted shotgun lock is contructed of steel and features a quick release lock (you can set your own combination). Price is still being determined but it will be around $200-350. The purchase of any of our new line of BMW security products will also allow you 50% off any of S4P's (seven4para.com) shooting or defense classes.

Damn! When is the behind-the-grill rocket launcher going into production??

Eloy, do you carry any hand gun mounts for inside the car? I currently carry a beatdown stick by the driver seatbelt buckle, good easy access but nothing like a quick draw mount for my Ruger.

You TX guys are very fortunate...in OH (with a concealed handgun license) you must have your gun in a holster on your person or in a closed case or purse...

Am I the only one who finds it strange that a racing/performance company makes and sells weapon mounting equipment as well? I have nothing against guns, but to me it kind of diminishes the focus that "Race Precision" has as a company.

The first thing that comes to mind is "Jack of all trades, master of none". Maybe a subsidiary of RPi would be a better way to go about this. Just my $0.02.

I think you just have the wrong assumption that this will "diminish" their focus on car performance products. Eloy's other passion/hobby/business (outside his more than full time focus on automotive performance) is tactical firearms and combat training. Seems like a simple case of him having a need to make something for his M5 as a possible use for his other business and decided to produce it for others who may have the same need/interest.

Your answer is in the original post! perhaps you should have visited the link before making assumptions.

I actualy did visit the site and didn't find any reference to the product there. There was also no mention of it being sold through that site in the original post, only a disount on other services. But thank you for your input.

As you folks may have guessed, the product was designed and produced through Seven4Para (a sister company of RPi) for distribution through RacePrecision.

You are right, iansjames, purity of purpose is an important to part of any good company. RacePrecision has always prided itself on producing automotive performance related products that yield consistant real-world reproducible gains. However, this is a case where a sister company has brought out a product that I think our customers would be interested in. :)

Thanks for that...I personally think the product is great and so are all of your automotive products...I was just giving my opinion as a fellow business owner, which it seems you agree with. Sister companies or completely different/unrelated corporations are always the best way to go with ideas like this. The last thing you need is for there to be an issue with a firearm accessory, which could cause a huge issue for the automotive division of your company.

I intend on ordering items from RPi very soon and was just commenting. I have nothing negative to say or feel about RPi.

Good luck with the new products.

All the best,

Ian

That is very nice, and if it fits my Giugiario designed Tikka it might get on my Christmas list.

I think if you could come up with an under-the-dash universal handgun holder that any standard holster could fit into, it would be a very good seller. Something that would hold a holster with a firearm, but could be stored under the dash for quick retrieval. Being available for draw from either hand would be advantageous. Basically I would like to take my Glock, J-frame, USP, Sig, or whatever in the holster, and remove it from it's concealed location when I get in the car. Then store it under the dash in a "universal" type of holder that might be readily accessible with either hand.
The other option would be to have a holster specific for the handgun, and would not include the personal holster. You could pull the firearm out when you get in the car, leave the holster in your belt, and stash the gun in a locked holster under the dash.

The hardest thing about that is accessability when you need it. If you have to reach under your seat or anywhere else for that matter when the S hits the fan, its too late. Shoulder hoster is probably the best and fastest way to be ready for having to shoot from inside the car. Have you done any shooting from inside the vehicle?

Yes, and I find that most situations in the car i am holding the gun in my left hand (not my primary hand). Shooting out the driver window I can use my regular holster and right-hand grip. Shooting into the passenger seat and rear seat I am using my left hand and need to draw from an unusual position. Thus I want some sort of Universal item that would go under the dash, and would hold any holster in an orientation that makes it available for draw by the right hand (for an attacker that walks up to the driver's window) or left hand (for attackers that jump into the passenger seat or into the rear seats).

I never want to reach under the seat, I am looking to reach under the dash.

What I can do is work on something that has a 1.5-1.75" width (similar to a gun belt) that most holsters can mount on to. I would recommend a serpa single point retention for that. This way the gun wont come out during bumps or hard turns or even in an accident unles you pressed the release.

In my culture, that is unacceptable! A man permitted to carry a weapon is a subject, a potential hazard who can unleash this given power at any moment in time if his mortal human warm blooded animal instincts kick in!

A man not permitted to carry weapons is a law abiding citizen who respects the law that protects him and his loved ones! All are equal and all have the right to be protected by higher authorities. Fortunately for us, we live in a society that is very vigilant towards violence and potential threats to public and personal safety!

Alhamdillah! I pray these values never go away and stay with us forever inshala.
I wished our country worked this way but it doesnt. Criminals are scum and they prey on the weak. I dont know of ANY criminal who intentionally went after someone they thought they coundnt overcome. The truth of the matter is that less than 10% of people in American live in realityville so good citizens are sometimes forced to defend themselves. The strong and smart survive.

What about women? In the USA, women have the right to carry firearms just as men do, which allows them to protect themselves from attack in situations where the higher authorities (police) are not present. In Bahrain, do women have the right to protect themselves from rape with whatever force is necessary? In any country women are generally less physically able to protect themselves from attack. Firearms or other weapons are necessary unless one believes that women should not have the same protection from attack as men.

This argument comes up again and again, and I always believe the argument for the primacy of police protection to be valid, except for that one time when my wife/sister/mother is attacked, and in that case despite the fact that I might be able to kill the attacker with my bare hands I would like my female family member to have access to the protection afforded by a firearm.

Looks good...out of curiosity, a couple of questions:
- How does it mount to the trunk lid? Is this something you could do a self-install on, or would it need to go in to a shop somewhere?
- Can you get to the tool kit when the latch is in the down position, or does the back mounting bar block that?

Its something you can install yourself. The only thing that you will need to do is cut a small piece of the lining to fit the bar through. As fas as the tools, you can still access them by bringing the cover down instead of opening the flap. The mount is installed by using the top bolt of the trunk lid latch on both sides.
