After much anticipation and dashed hopes, our WeissLicht LED AE upgrade Version 2.0 is now released for (for pre-LCI E60 ONLY, 2004-2007).

Special thanks to Dan aka Torquey5 for being the Guinea Pig on this one!

Results should be IDENTICAL as in this comparison for all the below fitments.

It's pretty easy but unfortunately it requires the removal of the headlamps on the pre-LCI E60s as there isn't enough clearance to access the bulb w/o doing so.

PM sent.

Bought these from Cal @ JLeviSW and installed them yesterday on my 2006 M5. Personally, I thought getting the headlights in/out was a huge pain in the ***, but it was probably because I was overly concerned with nicking the front fascia and fenders. Bulb replacements were a piece of cake, and they look awesome.

Highly recommended!

Looks good. I've had the V1 for nearly one year. When installing, I had to remove one of headlights which was total pain in the butt. In the process, I slightly nicked the housing around the headlight which can't be seen with the headlight in place. So for the other side, I decided against removing it. I managed to install it without removing the headlight assembly. It took lots of patience, but I managed to do it.

Flicker on startup

FYI, the WeissLicht V2 angel eyes flickered substantially after a cold start this morning. Left/right did not flicker simultaneously or with any discernable pattern, just random left/right alternating flicker.

Hi Brad,

unfortunately this is normal and to be expected somewhat. That is just the light control module (LCM) doing it's initial startup checks. This flickering should go away after a few moments. There's nothing really you can do to avoid it, short of disabling the LCM check itself (requires recoding).

How do these compare to the HID angel eyes I see for sale on the mfest forums?

Any pros and cons against HID angel eyes? I am very curious to know other than brightness.

HID AEs are going to be the brightest available application. However, many note that they may be a bit TOO BRIGHT for your taste (especially at night)...also HID AE kits require a lot of extra wiring (ballasts, error cancelling resistors, etc.) that will NOT fit inside the original headlamp assembly. Our V2 LED WL units are straight plug and play with no extra ballasts or resistors required.

Hey cal,
I am nor really an expert on the terms you folks are using, but I like the way the AE's look...I have a 2008 E60 M5, and I have the following questions:
1. Does your newest version fit my vehicle without errors and issues?
2. Am I going to be able to do the installation my self in a timely manner?
3. How much do they cost?
4. is there anything to get ris of the orange color eyebrows?

Thank you for your help.

Matt

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your interest

To answer your questions.

1. Unfortunately at this time we are experiencing issues with PN LHUXX2WYY for LCI E60 vehicles. The issue seems to be isolated to the DRLs being enabled on the iDrive system. With the DRLs disabled, the errors are non-existent.
2. Yes, it is a very simple bulb swap, should only take 15 minutes per side.
3. The price is $149 + shipping. Please PM me for the best price.
4. Not at the moment unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge.

Regards,

Cal

Thanks for the quick respond Cal! Please let me know whenever you guys can take care of the error msg. I will be very interested, but I hate dealing with errors on dash.
Once again, thank you, and please keep me posted.

How would you say these are compared to Umnitza's Ice Lite V2 in comparison on brightness and quality?

#32 ·
I cannot speak for Umnitza's product as I haven't had a chance to make the comparison. But we sell our product with our 100% money back guarantee.

#33 ·
Cal, you have another email reply. Can you post a link to the install guide so I can see what all is required? Or if anyone has a DIY guide :)
