We have received great feedback from our customers who have purchased these new tunes from us. The ESS performance tunes are like no other I have seen on the market and the numbers on the dyno and results from head to head runs dont lie. The SMG tune has also been a big hit so we will be offering them together as a package or by themselves.
We will be offering a 20% discount for the above tunes by themselves or 25% off when purchased together. RPi also continues to offer our military/le discounts so those who are veterans or are currently serving, please call or email us directly for details.
It is hard to tell from the video but you can notice the quicker shifts, especially when in partial throttle. Usually there is a delay when you are shifting even in S6 if you are not balls out redlining it.
Thank you RPI. I know I ask much, but really I would appreciate to have a video with shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear, at half throttle, medium rpm, as this is where really the SMG is sooo slow ...
In 3/4/5/6/7 gears, is it obviously easier and even as standard, it is almost acceptable.
Do you think there is a possibility to have a slight mod to the tune so we can run S6 with DSC or MDM on?
Or maybe so simply they get rid of one of the S1, S2, S3 and S4 programs that are totally useless, so they put the S6 parameters into S5 position for us who are more sporty drivers? That would change the car a lot...
Thanks

When we get a chance, we'll make another video but we have been really busy here so its not going to happen really fast. I dont think the tune will change from what it is now. The guys at ESS spent months getting this tune down and everyone who has purchased it loves it.
The reason why BMW didnt is because you ARE going to break traction upon shifts due to the aggressive nature when shifting fast with a powerful car. If they put dsc on it would slow it down soo much because the computer would tell the engine to hesitate for a split moment and actually be slower than s5.
Sorry to totally disagree on this one
When shifting in S6 at 5000 or 6000 rpm with part throttle, my car does not break traction, even in the wet, so I could perfectly run DSC on with no interference at all.
At that is true until 7800 rpm full throttle. So the only possibility to break traction at gearchange ( in the dry at least ), is full throttle at 8000+ rpm. But there is a very simple solution for that: do these gearchanges just a tiny bit less stupidly fast and violent. They would just need to be fast and smooth, not be like breaking apart all the car's harmony and feel you will kill the clutch and shafts at every gearchange, which is really stupid and spoils the whole car:grrrr:
The point is you and I do not use the car the same way. I always drive it as a sports car, although it has 4 doors. So I need a fast gearbox all of the time, even when I shift at 5000 rpm.
I have no need to impress the lady on the passenger seat with stupidly violent shifts at 8200, I'm already married with her LOL And what is more, she HATES that...I can go as fast as I like she says nothing ( well...almost ), but when such a stupid shift occurs, that means 10 mn arguing with her
Certainly
But with 6 settings to choose from, my understanding is BMW ( or ESS with their tune ), could very easily have both of us ( and I'd say everybody ) totally happy with the gearbox
