Air Box Plug

I've read the thread on the airbox plug mod. What is the consensus among those that have experience with this mod?
Do you truly gain midrange hp? without loss of high range hp?

You can plug your airbox whether you have an M5 or M6.
I don't think enough people have tried and tested this to
come to a conclusion.

I have the airbox plug and I was seeing around a 5hp increase
across the board on a dyno. There are some that believe that
under real world conditions perhaps it's not as beneficial
as seen on the dyno. I'm not sure myself. I believe I'm the only
one who has posted hp numbers on this. That on it's own
isn't enough to say anything. I think we need a few more
people to try this first.

The mod is really easy to do yourself. If you have a v-box
(or know someone who does) it would be interesting to see
what kind of numbers you get. All you need to do for testing
purposes is put some duct tape over the bottom of the hole
in the air box and do a few before after runs.

Marshall, I think you should try v-box both pre/post air box plug. My v-box still at RPI for you to do a testing. WHen your M6 will be done? I love to see RAC RG41

Yeah, I could do this. Due to work though it won't be until May.
I have a lot of things lined up...software comparisons, plug tests,
filter testing (you know what I'm referring to), and probably
cats/x-pipe testing!

My RACs arrived at the dealership yesterday! Talking with my SA
the first thing he said was, "These things are light". I'm hoping to
see my car back by next week.

oh come on who would use duct tape to plug their air box hole. okay guilty. I also have the official rpi plugs in now and i think they work great.

The plugs arent going to give you any peak hp. 5whp is not even enough to make a butt dyno difference on a heavy car like the M5/M6. For $20 though, its for those who want every little bit.

All this talk of "air box plugs" and "butt dynos" make me consider of an easier method to refer to the two.

Here, next time the issue comes up, something like this; How is your car running with those butt plugs?

My wit is unfrickenbelievable!!!
