Yeah, I know its probably asking a lot but... I did read he would customize the front if he had a min of 3 but no discounted price. (of course that was the idea if he would have a minimum of 10 for that group buy. Which did not happen.) Hopefully he would be willing to do the rear as a custom non discount price.

Well, at least he knows that two for sure people would do the rears. I am true to my word. If I can get them at a "reasonable" price. Considering I would still have to purchase the front. I would still do it. Which would make it 3, money in hand.
I love to have something that others dont. (except for a supercharged M5, which I would do if I had that much $$ laying around which I dont ).

Well I think it was well worth it!

Thankyou Ryan even if customs added £34 to the bill

I installed mine over labor day weekend (birthday gift from g/f)
They look great, and like others, 99% of the time I'm the only one in the the car or one other person, so no illuminated rears doesn't bother me at all. I actually look forward to it getting dark outside so I can see the sills

FYI - Sean isn't a distributor, he makes these. I think it takes about 2-3 weeks to get the stuff and for him to put them together and test before sending out. He's also great to deal with if you have questions. Send a question at midnight (during labor day weekend), go a response about 2 hours later

why wouldnt those people "interested" earlier not come through. These are hot. Maybe I will cough up the extra 50. Uh... maybe when I actually get my car delivered to me though. Kind of already spending too much on the car and I dont even have it yet. Sad. But, I would really like matching rears.

At the risk of sounding like a jerk - in your post above you said you weren't willing to pay the extra $50 for the "regular price", and now you're wondering about the cost of a one-off custom set of rears?? That doesn't make any sense!

Bottom line, I needed to sell 10 units to break even. And although I realize these aren't cheap to begin with, I can't even take my girlfriend to Cheesecake Factory on the profit even after selling the 10 units.

This was the exact same line of reasoning as before - had 25 interested, 4 came through. Now granted, E55 and MGZ are past customers and I'm confident they'd be true to their word, the same cannot be said for "the masses"

So figure it this way - the front sill inserts are about $400/set. Rears are a bit smaller so I could probably do them for $350/set (rear only). So $350x10 sets to break even = $3500. $3500/3 sets = $1167/set (again, rear only). Still interested?!

I feel ashamed cause it was only 4 of us who stood up to our words. 21 fell out - shame on you.
Maybe if you had requested a down payment it had been a different matter.
I think 400USD for the rears is within reach but close to 1200 is too steep for my budget.

I was totally joking on the $1200 figure, as I'm sure you know. I'm definitely a bit sour since the M3 crowd (arguably a crowd with less disposable income) stepped up huge on the same product. And to keep hearing arguments as to why these failed is just adding insult to injury. At the end of the day, had I waited for deposits, these never would have been built.

Bottom line - at least some people stepped up and are enjoying the inserts. To my knowledge everyone who has them is delighted (no pun intended), and I will eventually sell 10 of them.
