Well that post came out of left field. Thanks for blindsiding us, how courteous of you.

You called us about 3 weeks ago and asked us if we had installation instructions for the Rieger rear bumper that you bought from us. We don't. It's a piece that a body shop needs to install, and they can always figure it out as long as they have decent skill and experience.

The only instructions for rieger parts is in German, which you received with your order.

If you need further technical support you can try to contact Rieger. We tried and they did not supply us with any information that would be useful to you.

We explained all of this to you on the phone, I don't know why you are upset with us. You bought a product that needs to be installed by a body shop. If the body shop does not know how to install it, that is not our fault.

Back to the issue at hand here

You can buy with confidence from ModBargains because of the fact that Vorsteiner is literally a 10 minute drive from our office, we can always get the technical support needed if you have an installation question.

I spoke to you last week. It was how you handled the situation that bothered me most. I was honestly seeking help and you sat on the other end of the line like you didn't care and you had more important things to move on to. When I asked you if you had any way to support and help me you said no. I questioned this considering you sell and represent Rieger products so it surprised me that you guys had no knowledge of how it should be installed, etc. My body shop did not like the fact this bumper has no support on the rear to protect from a collision. I asked you for a referral to a body shop you knew of and you said that you do not give out that information. I was appalled at that response.

I only felt it was fair to forewarn the highly respectable board members here of my experience. If you treat them differently than you did me, then you have nothing to worry about. However I doubt I would personally ever do business with your company again.

Well educated people here will already understand this is a personal experience for me and make their own judgment call regarding whether or not to do business with your company.

Hmm, I feel like I should atleast try and help solve this problem that is going on, even though I don't know the whole details of it. Also, this is the first time I am hearing/seeing about it. PM me if you still have any questions and I will do my best to help you. Did you install the bumper yet?

I spoke to you in December 2005 and that was where I hit the first brick wall. Then I spoke to Mike last week (after waiting over a year to install the bumper and trying again) and that was when I did not find much help from him or a perception that he was interested in helping. He was rather quiet on the other end waiting for me to hang up the phone in defeat. Not a good way to make a customer feel.

Anyway, I would like nothing more than to work this out. The bumper is painted and ready for install and my car is in the bodyshop right now. Basically we are trying a custom one-time install using any factory bumper components we can and our own enginuity.

Let's touch base some time tomorrow and start over here. You have my full cooperation if there's anything you need me to do on my end to ensure things go smooth.

Let me know a good time to contact your office. I still have your cell phone too believe it or not.

What happened in 05 that made you feel like you hit a brick wall? I don't remember all the exact details.

So you never got instructions at all with your bumper? Even the german ones?

OK, we can do this on the board if you wish....I was going to call you guys instead but here it goes....

My notes show you had called me back on 03.27.06 after I had left a message to discuss installation procedure for the rear bumper. We talked about a metal mounting hinge that is on my OE bumper that helps secure the Rieger one, however the rest of the bumper was a hollow cavitity with no way to secure it. When I asked you how you installed the two bumpers you had done on some E36 cars you had, you told me you had no idea how it was done since your bodyshop did it. We then discussed calling your Rieger distributor in Los Angeles and talking to Andy. I called Andy and spoke to him. As I asked him how to install the bumper he got upset and said they only want to speak to professional bodyshops, not people like me and demanded to know how I got his number. When I told him about getting it from ModBargains he said he was going to give you guys a mouthful. I did not expect that response, believe me, I expected cooperation and help. Then with some regret he gave me a number to call for a bodyshop he knew which did installs of Rieger products. My bodyshop called them and after getting their procedure on how they do the install, my bodyshop felt it would not be durable for the long haul and the bumper would end up sagging in the rear with foam insertion as suggested by the bodyshop we spoke to.

It was at that point I decided not to install the Rieger product and keep my OE.

About a year later now and after having a small collision in the rear where my OE bumper is wasted, I figured I would try again to have the Rieger bumper installed and see how I like it. That started my phone calls again to ModBargains for help. That is when I spoke to Mike and was surprised at his level of distant and cold responses when I started asking for install instructions, help, advice, referrals, etc. to get my questions answered. Perhaps I caught him at a bad time, I don't know.

Anyway the part number for the order I placed in December 2005 was PN: 49035.

My car is on the a lift right now as we speak and installation is taking place with the plan to have my car finished next week.

And to answer your question Mike, my car is a 1999 BMW M3.

I don't mind discussing it on the board or through PM, which ever you feel is neccessary. It doesn't affect me. I will still try to help you the best I can. But if you feel that by posting on the boards that you would get a better response or makes you feel better by venting, go ahead.

The way that the bodyshop described it to you is the exact way my bodyshop told me that they had done to install mine. My e36 at the time actually had a OEM foam peice that was reused to support the bumper. Any competent bodyshop should be able to put this bumper on. I've never had any other person have this same experience as you have had. And you aren't the only one who I have sold a Rieger bumper to. I don't have the contacts to the guys who I have sold it to in the past before, or else I would contact them, but I mean, they didn't have any problems at all.

Andy never told me anything about your call at all, not a single word about it. I figured it would have been best for you to call him since I wanted you to hear it directly from him, and if there was something you didn't understand then you would be able to ask him directly. I didn't want to butcher his instructions that he told me, so I told you to call him directly. A copy of a copy/original is never as good as it is the first time.

My bodyshop used the original mounting points and rivets to hold the bumper in place. They never once asked me how to do it. I never recieved any instructions on how to install my entire body kit either when I originally got it and gave it to the body shop. They were able to figure everything out. They weren't even a shop that specialized in BMWs, just in cars in general.

I can appreciate you referring me to Andy as to remove any middle-man....that's a common practice for me as well in my business. It's too bad he was rather irate with me when I called him though.

As far as my bodyshop is concerned, I think they were a little hesitant to install it before not because they didn't know how to do it, they just know how much of a perfectionist I am and thought I might not like the end result when finished. They are shooting for 100% here.

Anyway, things have changed since then. They are going to get it installed without instructions and make it work. I will have this complete next week. With all the installs done I have several photo examples of the Infinity 1 bumper on an E36 and we are going to be sure it's tight and the lines all line up.

Thank you for taking time to explain things better and the willingness to get more information for me if I need it. It would have been real nice to have received this level of response from the very beginning and there would not have been a need to express any negative feedback on my end.

that's what I thought, this is for a e36 right? It is estoril? I remember now, I was confused at first cause we are on a 5 series board.

Then yea, my previous post is perfect then, cause this situation can relate to it even better then i thought now.

You really never needed to respond with neg feedback. I always answered your phone calls when you called me on my personal cell phone didnt I? When you experienced problems with Mike, you could have called me directly, since I was the original one that handled your order. I would have been glad to provide you with as much help as I could.

I mean, we are not like other shops/vendors/etc that pretend to know what we are talking about. I do not go off of information I may have heard from a 3rd party, as it may be inaccurate or just totally off/wrong. I can only give you first hand experience, and I did. If I ever do base it off of something I heard/read/etc, then I would tell you, and that you should do some research on your end also. Makes sense right? I don't want to have to pretend to tell you how something works if I am not 100% positvely sure, or else something could go wrong and there'd be even more trouble/problems for both of us.

I feel that it is fine that you expressed your problems. Just hopefully people have a better understanding of us now, and that we are willing to help out the most we can when we can and do our best to do so. I don't give out my personal number to customers for nothing, I do so they can call me when I am outside of the office and on my own free time. I take my time out to help you. Everytime someone has called me on my cell phone, I was not in the office.

Hopefully this does not discourage anybody from buying from us. Even though I have not been a member on here for that long, I have been a member on bimmerforums for a long time. I was just like everybody else. I was a member before I became a vendor, so I know how it is like, and I am just trying to do my best to contribute back to the community where I can.
