We would like to entertain a GB for our carbon fiber hoods. the hoods will take approx 1 wk to build.
They can be ordered customed to your preference. for instance, you can order a hood w/ only 4 layers of cf to produce a lighter hood that still is very strong.
you can order the hood w/out the scoop, w/out the naca ducts, ect.. We will do our best to accompany your needs.
below is a brief description of the
hoods characteristics:
this hood is made of 5 layers of carbon fiber w/ epoxy resin. sandwhiched in between is nomax honeycomb core. the mounts, latches, and bolts are all aerospace grade. It undergoes 3 stages of oven cure. the hood will come w/ a spec sheet. Kind of like a born on date which give the specifics and origins of every part on that car. Basically, if we built this piece for an airline, they would take it in a second.
This hood weighs 8.5lbs. (you can order this hood w/ only 4 layers of cf, and it will weigh approx~6lbs.)
as for the scoop in the center, it serves two purposes. the first, a different, unique look that in our opinion shows aggressiveness. Second, and most importantly, through the consultation of a few motorsport teams, we have placed that scoop there for an intake system designed to replicate the F1 race cars. instead of having two intakes split off into the sides, we have built one that rest right ontop of the engine. the airbox will sit flush against the hood. this designs is still in the prototype/testing phase.
those vents you see on the side are for air flow. Inside them will sit two flush
NACA ducts which split the air and create rapid air flow into the engine bay. They can be
replaced by two flush base plates in times of bad weather, or if you simply dont want to use them. These are options for the hood which serve your aftermarket intake system, as you can order the hood w/out the cutouts to have one flush hood for stock applications/personal preference.
another option is a silver film on the underside of the hood, which is an
aerospace heat deflecting film. to put it simply, its kind of like kevlar, that is baked into the carbon fiber. this is also an option for the hoods.
