SuperSprint M5 Headers @ $2999 for limited time!

As you are are probably aware by now, the Euro has been rising more than ever. In effect, more and more parts for our vehicles has been rising to reflect the change.

SuperSprint has just placed in effect their pricing increases for exhaust. M5 headers, which evosport offered @ $2999.00 when they were introduced has risen to $3350, showing an approximate 12% increase in pricing.

Since we have only a few sets of headers left on the shelves at this moment, we are offering the SuperSprint M5 Headers at the old $2999.00 pricing until our stock is depleted and new ones have to be ordered. After what is on the shelves is sold, header pricing will change to reflect the current rate.

Here is a dyno of our Supersprint M5 Headers and Supersprint Metallic cats in conjunction with our Evosport/Powerchip Stage II Software on a magazine car for European Car:

The earlier thread can be viewed by clicking here showing the details on the headers: Supersprint M5 Headers!

For further details on the M5 SuperSprint headers, feel free to contact me directly!

Re: SuperSprint M5 Headers @ $2999 for limited time!

Ben:

Didn't this "Magazine Car" have MORE upgrades besides just the Headers, Cats and Software as you just stated above?

I also kinda remember that the "Magazine Car" in it's first Dyno Go-'Round with the Stage I MODs had a HP total of somewhere around 365hp ... That is ...
If memory serves me well. If Not ... Then I stand corrected.

BUT ... If my memory is somewhere in the ballpark ... Was it ever explained WHY there was an approximate 15hp "Drop" from the Last Dyno Go 'Round?

That would be from 365hp (Approx) to the current 350hp (New Baseline).

Yes, but the dyno Tom posted only reflects the gains from SS Headers/Cats and software.

This section of the article was a little tricky, as there was a brief technical explanation as to how those numbers were achieved. Simply stated, ignore the previous gains from Stage I. Uncorrected (SAE), the car made the same numbers prior to Stage II as it did after Stage I was installed--which is exactly as it should be.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben ...

If someone has spent the time, effort and money to do the equivalent of your Stage I MOD and NOW they are trying to decide How Much "POP" or increased POWER & OR HP they will get by doing your Stage II Mod, HOW can they ignore what they previously did to their car and what the previous Dyno stats & results were?

Doesn't the Gains that Tom posted include ALL the MODS that were on the car at the time of the Dyno-tuning ... NOT ONLY the SS Headers/Cats & Software?

If I understand this correctly ... The Stage I upgrade consisted of the SS Exhaust, SS X-Pipe, UD Pulleys, K&N Air Filters, NEW Sparks Plugs (possibly Denso Iridium??) and the Stage I Software. Isn't this correct?

Here is where I'm a little confused here. You say I should ignore these previous gains from the above Stage I upgrade. Those gains on the Dyno when the testing was done last October were 345hp to 365hp and 334 ft-lb to 344 ft-lb of torque.

The above set-up yielded 365hp @ 6400rpm & 344 ft/lb Torque @ 4530rpm.
The installed cost for the above described upgrade is approximately $4500.
This info was taken from the EC Mag. article of October 2003.

I don't know if it was ever stated How Many more miles was put on the car between the 2 upgrade sessions.

SO Now ... We ADD to the above described M5 Stage I car ... the SS Headers, SS Cats, New Exhaust Gaskets and the Stage II Software you now have 379 hp @ 6650rpm and 346.4 ft/lb of torque 4750rpm. I can only assume that before this next round of Dyno-Tuning, you gave the car a fresh set of Plugs.

With the addition of the SS Headers, the SS CATS, New Exhaust Gaskets and the Stage II Software you have added a NET Gain of 14 HP and almost the identicial ft-lbs. of Torque from the previous Dyno Session. The approximate cost of this New upgrade is $7600.

Can you Please explain WHY the Stage I MODS and Dyno Session Results should be ignored?

I'm not trying to be picky or difficult ... I just trying to understand "WHY" I would ignore the previous MODS' Dyno Results!

Re: SuperSprint M5 Headers @ $2999 for limited time!

Ed,

I'm not sure whether you have a copy of the article handy, however it really is worth the read, as the first few paragraphs completely explain everything in detail by a third party.

Essentially, while the base numbers prior to the install seemed lower than previously, after converting it to uncorreted SAE and comparing it to our previous dyno (when set to uncorrected SAE) the numbers were the same. Based on the two identical dynos here at evosport, we were confident that the car was running correct, and that these new numbers could be used as a baseline for Stage II.

The dyno Tom posted should only be used to see the change in performance based on addition of the Supersprint Headers, Metallic Cats and software. Stage I gains have been previously written by European Car, and can be viewed at www.europeancarweb.com/tech.

Thanks,

Ben

Re: SuperSprint M5 Headers @ $2999 for limited time!

Yes that was unfortunately a very confusing piece written by EC magazine. I find it hard to believe that a professional auto mag writer would publish that with such a confusing mess of numbers, and then summarize with HP and tq gains that were not clearly supported or explained in the article. It's unfortunate for the readers who can't tell where the summarized gains came from because it wasn't clear which numbers used SAE and which did not. And it is unfortunate for Evo (sorry Ben/Simon/Brad) who didn't get clean numbers published in a concise manner that instills confidence, and who now have to explain everything to everybody again.

Bret,

The only time SAE numbers were not used was to verify that the before dyno was the same as the dyno from a few months prior. The numbers Tom posted are both SAE corrected.

Thanks,

Ben

Thanks Ben. I finally understood that after you guys explained it to me when I was visiting. It's just unfortunate for you guys at Evo that the article didn't explain that very clearly.
