How can this really be 3629 CFM?

I was curious to see this fan kit posted here because one of the things I spent a lot of time working on the cooling for my Blue Beast. Stop and go driving in LA Summer temps with a SC motor was just too much for the Zionsville fan. After a number of tries, the only way we could get close to 3000 CFM was using dual 11" Spal fans.

Take a look at the specs for an Extreme 16" Spal fan - http://www.spalusa.com/pdf/30102803_SPEC.PDF#view=FitH

This monster only does 1950 CFM and draws almost 30 amps. My dual fans draw about 30 amps.

If you look at the gold standard of replacement fans, Ford Taurus fans - Taurus fan CFM? - Ford Maverick / Mercury Comet Forums - these monsters are 18", so much bigger than this one and push 2500 CFM on low with a draw of 33amps! on high they push only about 4000 CFM.

So I don't want to rain on any parades, but I have a really hard time believing a single 16" fan can move 3600 CFM, and I sure have a problem believing that it can do so with only 11amp draw.

I suspect that you are publishing the m^3/h figure as CFM which is misleading. I would love to know how this fan can do better than the industry leaders like Spal's extreme performance series or the monster Taurus fans.

Mamsterla,

We can assure you the 3629 CFM rating is accurate and the AMP draw confirmed is actually 10AMPs +/- 0.5AMPs. We are proud to introduce this great
CNS Racing Electric Fan product offering the highest documented and tested CFM rating. This unique fan motor offers both extreme cooling power and very quiet operation. Please contact us should you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mark

I suspect this is a Zirgo 3630 fan 16" 3630 Cfm Zirgo Ultra High Performance Radiator Cooling Fan « Zirgo.com
which is $225 directly from them.

There are a number of people who believe the Zirgo fans CFM claims are pretty dubious:

what thermo fan do you use? - GMH-Torana
Electric fans [Forum] - DiscoWeb Message Boards
AutoLoc Zirgo Ultra High Performance Electric Fans - Ford Muscle Forums : Ford Muscle Cars Tech Forum

People investigating the Zirgo claims call both the draw number and the flow numbers suspect or bogus:
Keeping It Cool? - HybridZ - Page 2

So if this is a Zirgo fan, it is probably very over priced and very over-rated on flow and current. Do you have this installed in an M5 right now? Can you show some pics of the installed kit?
