is the evolve header with the stock cat collectors flared? So we can slide in the stock cat pipe into the header collector, then clamp? hope that makes sense? I dont remember seeing a flair in the photos, so i assumed welding was required?!?

Another question: What about modifications to the underbody heat shields? Will there need to be any cutting, trimming, etc. of the aluminum sheetmetal anywhere?

I remember reading on other forums about there being significant mods needed with some other manufacturers header systems such as trimming and in some cases deletion of the heat shields altogether in some areas. I want to avoid this if possible, and if necessary I'll be prepared to have so custom pieces fabricated.

Alright, assuming these absolutely have to be welded, what is the boards suggestions on the best way of dropping the exhaust in case of future clutch woes? I'm just trying to plan a strategy here because I probably will upgrade to a beefier clutch later on. Where would be an optimum place to cut and clamp in order to drop the transmission? I know this may sound like a dumb question to some but advice is always good from people who have done this before.

Thanks in advance.

the downpipes can come off ..about half way the previous pic, you can see the down pipes and pimarys connect..

take a closer look at the welds in the middle off the headers, just below that you see the 2 parts connect

so iff your running a x pipe allready you can just take out the downpipes + cats in one piece and leave the rest hanging too get the clutch out..
iff you got the full oem exhaust, everything has too come off in 1 piece

otherwise look at page 29 please..more detailed pics there too be found.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but would it be practical to install (weld on) exhaust flanges where the headers connect to the catalytic converters? It might require some tedious work to get it right but in the end may make for easier disassembly/assembly for a clutch install rather than attempting to install 4 pipes back into their sockets. I was thinking heat-cycling may make it difficult to remove after a period of time. Again, just looking for opinions- I'll shut up after this.

If you want to do a clamp solution,I would suggest after the post-cat O2 sensors...

Otherwise removing the exhaust for clutch change is the same way with headers than stock exhaust manifolds...
