E39 M5 ECU Upgrades (inc AlphaN)

Hi Guys,

The following ECU upgrades are now available for your E39 M5:

AlphaN Mapping
Air Mass Sensors no longer required. No engine management lights. No diagnostic fault codes. No negative effects on fuel economy.
In isolation this upgrade will give sharper throttle response and a more connecting feeling to the engine. Outside of this, you will never know the MAF's are missing once operating temperature has been reached.
Car will revert back to standard if MAF sensors are re-connected for those countries that have the strictest of emission controls.
MAF sensors can be left in place but air temp sensor must be left connected through plug. Alternatively, an air temperature relocation kit is required.

Power Mapping
Currently we offer upto 10hp and 10lb.ft torque which is mainly achieved at the higher RPM's. Most of the work is done by fully opening the throttle plates and altering the cam timing (both inlet and exhaust). All power mapping also includes small changes to the throttle maps for improved smoothness but no sudden throttle openings to give the impression of a fake increase in power unless requested.
A genuine increase in part throttle power is also achieved without any negative effects to fuel economy.
More development work is currently being carried out for a higher power increase and mapping for cars with headers and upgraded camshafts.

Sport Memory Button Function
Sport button stays in the same position even if engine is switched off.

Speed Limiter Removal

RPM Limiter Increase
Available on request

Secondary Air Pump Delete
This one needs to no introduction! Lots of members are experiencing the problem and we now offer this service in isolation or as part of a package

Post 02 CAT Delete
For those are experiencing CAT efficiency problems, malfunctioning sensors or high flow cats which consequently bring up a fault code and/or engine management light.

We should try and get a group buy together for Package 1.

I would have to ship my ECU to you? I just realized this is overseas..

Very very interested in this. I need to do some thinking and come up with the inevitable questions I know I will have.

Thanks for putting the effort into developing something for our cars.

How does the Alpha-N system compensate for, or deal with, changes in air density? For example, if I travel from 600 ft. above sea level to 13,000 ft. above sea level, will the system be able to handle that?

They're in England, so they don't need to worry about that as much as we would in the Western US.

The answer to the question:

The MS S52 Control module contains an integral ambient barometric pressure sensor. The
sensor is part of the SKE and is not serviceable. The internal sensor is supplied with 5 volts
In return the sensor provides a linear voltage of approximately 2.4 to 4.5 volts representative
of barometric pressure (altitude).
The MS S52 monitors barometric pressure for the following reasons:
* The barometric pressure signal along with calculated air mass provides an additional
correction factor to further refine injection “on” time.
* Provides a base value to calculate the air mass being injected into the exhaust system by
the secondary air injection system. This correction factor alters the secondary air injection
“on” time, optimizing the necessary air flow into the exhaust system.
* Recognition of altitude above the accepted criteria postponing DM-TL activation for evaporative
emission leak diagnosis

So it seems like this Alpha-N just removes the MAF reading from the calculation and uses throttle position and barometric pressure to compute the PWM for the injectors.
