CNS Racing Clutch Group buy

I am a new M5 owner and was given the heads up about this forum from another member. Excellent info here! I am in need of a new clutch since my OEM clutch is burnt and slipping. After talking to a few owners and info on the forum I decided to call CNS and they are interested in offering a group buy for their clutch. This is a great deal so we need 5 + people. Add yourself to the list if interested.

I'm certainly not trying to start anything here, but what is so special about this clutch kit that makes it so expensive? Most of the other clutch setups I see people talking about are less than half that price. Again, I don't want to start a war over clutch choice; I just want to know what makes it cost so much.

Take a look at their website it answered all my questions. It is a larger clutch with a lighter dual mass flywheel.

Yeah, I just went and read the stuff on their site. It sounds awesome and I would definitely consider it, but surely there are other setups with similar performance. Although, for keeping stock drivability, this seems like the right ticket.

cns is essentially a machined down OEM flywheel keeping the dual mass properties but making it lighter. combined with a 260mm kit compared to a 240mm kit you get with stock. you dont need to change your TOB iirc, which makes install a direct plug and play. granted the UUC 280mm setup is direct plug and play, it does require a larger TOB and slaver cylinder, but UUC includes that with the kit.

imo if you are on a budget, i would scoop up a JB racing 280mm flywheel along with oem V12 clutch kit, TOB, and slaver cylinder. that would cost you roughly $1500 on the high end. UUC sells essentially the same thing with their 600-800 markup.

If you plan on doing any kind of performance mods, IMHO OEM will not cut it. The CNS has a long "break-in" period, but once it's broke in, it's the best clutch out there. You get OEM feel and racing durability.

.
Don't forget the other difference between CNS and UUC is that the former is has a dual mass flywheel like stock setup, the latter has a single mass flywheel. Not getting into an argument about which is better, just pointing out the difference.

Jerry
